We like Yampa! We loved the people who helped us check in and cooked our food in the cute little diner. However, run down areas around the place. Trash cans overflowing, the entry from outside not work with passkey. People were propping the doors open. The ac/heater was noisy the rooms and halls very stuffy, carpets need shampooing.

We made arrangements on line for a king bed room thru Expedia and when I arrived found we were in a room with one double bed. The person at the desk corrected this for this, although he had to struggle, because he had a full house. This is a bare bones facility in a small, rural Colorado town. The room was clean, but the carpeting was not. I pulled the filters on the wall heating/ac unit and they were filthy. This facility is more of a no-tell than a hotel. I would never recommend this facility to a friend, but I would recommend it to Trump and his ilk as they need to get a real glimpse of how rural America lives, and I'm no liberal.

No queen beds, overcharged by $20
The reservation was for 2 queen beds but when we got there we were told there were only doubles and kings and that they didn't have any queens at all. As in, not that the rooms with the queens were taken, but that the hotel had no queen beds at all.
The room overall was fine and the beds were fine although they were definitely full-size and not queens. Everything was clean. The window was weird but closable. There weren't any facial tissues and the setup for the sink seemed to be missing a coffee maker, perhaps? There's a shelf deal that seems like something should go there and below it but there was nothing there.
The facial tissue dispenser that's built into the counter was empty, too.
We ended up each sleeping in our own bed, which was especially weird since it was our 29th wedding anniversary.
The restaurant was fine and I appreciated that someone else left a review mentioning that check-in was in the restaurant. When we were having dinner the employee told some other people that they don't take cash. They did put a $100 hold on my credit card.
The staff were nice, but of the many hotels I've stayed at this was the most odd one since 1992.
It was a shock to get our credit card statement and see a very different charge than my Hotels.com receipt shows, though! We'll be disputing it.

The room was really well furnished and equiped. The hair dryer did not work. There were no cups orlastic glasses. We usedtour own. There is no coffeee maker in the room. The television was impossible to figure out how to work and no directions. Entrrace doors with the key cards was hit and miss. The restaurant is very convenient, but we did not take advantage. The staff seemed stressed and short handed, but they were very pleasant and helpful.

Nostalgic Trip and Decent Place to Stay
It is an ok place and served the purpose of a place to sleep and shower. Pennys Dinner was good and we enjoyed the food. We booked a king bed but when we arrived they only had double beds. They did compensate with a free meal at Pennys dinner. It was a a nostalgic trip as we installed all the mechanical in the Dinner when it opened 25 years ago, great memories

The lady that checked us in was super sweet and helpful, the room was easy to get to and use - and the food at penny’s diner was DELICIOUS!
They were light in a scary time! We will be back!

Reception is in a diner. Laundry room dispenser took my coins and gave no laundry detergent. Lady at reception was so sick she should not be in customer facing station, on top of it she also made food. Needless to say, we did not eat there. Room was ok.

We stopped here for one night on our way through and it was easy to check in and out, the rooms were clean and easy to sleep in. All the staff I talked with were nice and polite. The area as a whole gave very old timey vibes, the front diner was cute
