We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. I loved the community atmosphere and vibe.

Stub it up!
We had stayed in this hotel previously and were thrilled with the ambiance, service, and attention to details. This trip 4 years later to the same hotel was very different. The place desperately needs a deep clean. The shine and glisten is gone and replaced by 4 years of wear and tear of the property. The staff is superb.

Disappointment
Room has potentials but needs immediate renovation : Old furnitures, torn curtains, unclean carpets, fire place that doesn’t work etc.

A Great Lodge close to Main St
We chose the Field Guide for 2 reasons: close to Main St and fireplace in the room. The hotel is really nice and the Trail House suite was amazing! The fireplace was cozy and heated up the room quickly. The bathtub was a perfect way to soak my bones after hitting the slopes. And the proximity to Main St was good for my husband to spend time since he doesn’t ski. I’d definitely come back!

Loving it
Everything is amazing EXCEPT the toilet! It doesn’t flush fast enough - took a while for the water tank to be filled up. Very annoying because we had to use the main building to go to the toilet. Plumber supposed to fix the next day but never did. Aiden was super helpful - she tried to fix the toilet. It was a bit better (at least we use for the “light” use)

The hotel is very stylish and has a cool retro vibe. The staff are also very attentive and location is great for exploring downtown Stowe and skiing. However, we had no hot water and took a cold shower. The walls are also paper thin, so we heard guests in other rooms (well past midnight) as if they were having the conversation in our room. We liked the hotel, but won't go back. There are other options that we would try before returning.

Function over fashion
An easy investment for the hotel is to ensure the pull out bed is fully functional. It does not lay flat with the frame over the sofa. The mattress is terrible. Quick fix with the frame and a mattress topper would create real sleep for more than 1 guest. Otherwise a very nice accommodation and common areas are well done.

Cozy and rustic charm
I have stayed at the Field Guide about 10 times over the past 4 years. It is a quaint and cozy spot with genuinely helpful staff. The gem of the location is the first floor of the main lodge, which features several large living room spaces with fireplaces. People solo or in groups make use of these comfortable spaces to read, play games, enjoy each other’s company. The bar area features a small menu with a selection of food and drinks. They have a fairly nice beer and whiskey selection, making use of local producers. The rooms are clean, modern and functional within a rustic woodsy structure. The Summit rooms are larger, basically small suites. The location is close to the village, several restaurants within walking distance.

Stay clear of this place
I recently stayed at this hotel, and unfortunately, my experience did not meet the expectations set by the online reviews and photos. After driving 5.5 hours, I was hoping for a relaxing stay, but I was quite disappointed. First, the parking lot is not paved and has no lighting, which made dragging my luggage through gravel in the dark challenging. The photos online also didn’t accurately reflect the actual hotel. I opted for an "upgrade" and stayed in Cottage 1 but was immediately disappointed upon arrival. The walls were so thin that I could hear every footstep from the floor above, every toilet flush, and even conversations from guests in the nearby hot tub as if they were in the same room. I reserved the hot tub before arriving, but after using it, I could not get rid of the overwhelming chlorine smell, even after 3 showers. It became so bad that I couldn't sleep, compounded by the constant noise from the AC unit outside my room that went off every few minutes. I raised my concerns with the front desk, but they didn't seem particularly concerned. I received a text about someone coming to fix the toilet, which was not even the issue I reported. Ultimately, I decided to check out early and move to a different hotel, as this was far from the relaxing experience I had hoped for. While I appreciate that the GM reached out and refunded the upgrade, it felt like too little, too late.
