Jeju Island immediately springs to mind when thinking of islands to visit in Korea. However, there are lots of other islands both large and small that make for great travel destinations in Korea, a peninsula surrounded by seas.     Anmyeondo is an island that can be reached by car from Seoul in just about two hours and is popular with families as well as couples looking for a quick getaway. Many people come for views of the ocean, but there are many other things to see, such as a recreational forest, an arboretum and a themed floral garden. Plus, there are famous cafes and seafood restaurants hidden all over the place, so it makes for an ideal destination for food lovers looking to travel at short notice.

    Udo

    Udo is a small island that can only be accessed by boat from Jeju Island. Internal combustion vehicles are prohibited on the island as a measure to protect its pristine nature, so tourists must use public transportation or electric vehicles. As such, it's a place where you can find clean waters and coral sands that are difficult to find elsewhere. Since Udo is not a big island, all the sites exude cuteness and charm. Even the sunlight looks different here, and you can be sure you'll take some great photos just about anywhere on the island.

    Bijindo

    A peaceful gem hidden away from bustling cities

    Bijindo is an island that can only be reached after a 40-minute boat ride from Tongyeong. Bijindo Beach has fewer visitors than other famous beaches, so the biggest advantage is that you can relax and enjoy a quiet beach. You can have the blue waters and white sands all to yourself as if you were on a private beach. If you enjoy walking, bring something to drink and go for a stroll along the Bijindo Coral Trail. You can walk leisurely along the narrow path to find fantastic views of the ocean and small fishing villages.

    Ulleungdo

    A remote island that every Korean wants to visit at least once

    If you're planning to visit Ulleungdo, it's a good idea to carefully check the ferry schedule and weather in advance. If the weather permits, you can even see the famous islets of Dokdo from the Dokdo Observation Deck with the naked eye and even visit them. The scenery around the island itself is quite unique compared to other islands of Korea, and there are many family-friendly places like Yerimwon Garden and Ulleung Botanical Garden that are excellent for children. Ulleungdo is sought out by lots of visitors, so you should be able to easily find accommodations and rental car services.

Jisimdo is a great place to visit after enjoying some sunbathing on the beaches of Geojedo.

    Muuido

    Take a walk on the sea and feel one with nature

    Since the opening of Muui Bridge, Muuido has become more accessible than ever from nearby metropolitan areas. There's a walking trail here that will let you easily explore the entire island. What's great is that this trail even lets you "walk on the sea" for an unforgettably unique experience.

    Jeungdo

    An island of natural beauty where time seems to stand still

    Nicknamed "Slow City", even the breeze on Jeungdo is calm, making this the ideal island for a relaxing time with the whole family. Although small, the island is full of things for kids to experiences, such as the Pacific Halophytes Botanical Garden, Salt Museum and Jeungdo Tidal-Flat Provincial Park. Of course, there are beaches and resorts for adults, too. Those who want to get away from the crowds and complications of famous tourist spots will find the serenity they seek on Jeungdo.

    Cheongsando

    Filming location for Seopyeonje where everything feels like a film scene

    Cheongsando, which served as a filming location for the film Seopyeonje, is an island that can only be reached by boat from Wando. One look at the beautiful scenery here and you can see why it has also served as the backdrop for scenes in many well-known K-dramas. Walk along the well-developed trail and you'll be treated to all the filming locations. Gorgeous yellow rapeseed flowers in full bloom and the expansive blue sea are exactly why people come here again and again to shoot films and K-dramas.

    Heuksando

    Surrounding uninhabited islands add to the charm and mystique

    Heuksando is an island that can only be reached by an hour-long boat ride from Mokpo, and it's well known as a place of exile for many people, including Jeong Yak-jeon, brother of poet Jeong Yak-yong. Heuksando is unique in that there are historical traces everywhere. At the top of a road that shouldn't be challenged by anyone but the most experienced of drivers is a picturesque view of the archipelago created by Heuksando's quaint coastlines and tiny islands scattered over the blue sea.
