The Jardins del Real were once the gardens of the old Palau del Real and situated on 2 large hills built from historic rubble, offering a prime selfie spot. The hills, often called “The only 2 hills in Valencia,” were constructed by the wreckage of the palace that once stood here and rose over the flat city centre. They are also called the Hills of Elio, in tribute to the general who defended the city during the Spanish War of Independence and was later killed by his troops on orders from Ferdinand VII.
Despite their grim history, today, the gardens provide stunning, colourful pathways to walk, including a lake, rose garden and romantic selfie spot.
