The Central Market of Valencia

The Central Market of Valencia (Mercat Central) is one of Europe’s largest covered produce markets with over 1,000 stalls. It’s housed inside a restored cathedral-like Art Nouveau building on Plaça de la Ciutat de Bruges. Besides lots of food, including the city’s tastiest cheese and ham, you can buy souvenirs, clothes, houseware and more. There’s also a gourmet food hall and a few craft beer and cocktail bars.
The Central Market of Valencia opens every day except for Sunday from 7.30 am, and it’s worth arriving early before the city’s restaurant owners snap up the freshest produce. The market is served by its own bus station and multi-storey car park.

Centre Comercial Saler is one of Valencia’s 3 central shopping malls. This recently renovated mall is also one of the top-rated, most-visited and largest. The Centre Comercial Saler is open every day, though expect many stores inside to be closed on Sundays. From Monday to Thursday, this huge shopping mall stays open until 11.30 pm, making it an ideal place to stock up on the latest items in fashion after dinner.

Carrer de Don Juan de Austria – or Calle Don Juan de Austria – is a go-to Valencian destination for the latest fashion in Valencia. The street branches off from the popular shopping street of Calle Colón. It’s home to brands including Mango, Zara and Pull&Bear, plus several cafes and terraces for when you need a pick-me-up. The street is also pedestrianised, which means no contending with traffic.
You can reach Carrer de Don Juan de Austria by taking the metro to the Colón subway station. Just next to the station at the east end of the street is the Ruinas Romanas historical landmark. To the west, the street is flanked by the Edificio Banco de Valencia, another historical landmark.
