The Maritime Museum of San Diego offers fascinating exhibits that highlight San Diego’s sailing and boating history. In "Man-of-War: Adventures Aboard a Fighting Ship," you will tour the HMS Surprise replica that was used in the filming of "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Master and Commander." While aboard, you can take in the view from the helm of the ship, have a seat in the captain’s quarters, and much more.
You can also explore the Star of India, which is the oldest ship in the world still actively sailing, and marvel at the display of the Sea Monsters that have been feared throughout history.

You'll find the Maritime Museum of San Diego just west of Interstate 5 at the crossroads of Ash Street and Harbour Drive. If you take a boat tour, be sure to pack sun cream, bring a jacket to keep warm, and wear closed-toed shoes for safety. You can bring snacks, lunch, or drinks, but glass containers are not permitted.
The museum is located right across from Waterfront Park, where you can enjoy grassy picnic areas, playgrounds, and spray fountains for the kids. While you're in the area, you may also like to visit Broadway Pier or the USS Midway Museum.
