Living Our Second Childhood
We've have stayed here before and it was great, but this time was a little twisted. Our first clue should of been when chkg in did 'we want to' upgrade for $5.00 per night! ($15.00 total!!) Now I have been in business for over 40yrs and and there are somethings that should be considered as perks rather that upgrades due to how frivolous the cost. The room appeared to be like a storage room converted to a small king size bed room, the view was of the staging area for the elevators, the window was half the size of the other rooms, and the best part was the last night we were fortunate enough to get to listen all night long to a corporate party music right below us - which was fine for we like to dance the night away! Another perk is the free complimentary wine/beer to be enjoyed out on the patio... normally perks are to get you to buy another full drink, but when we say everyone else throwing theirs in the trash can we didn't feel so bad not drinking it!! Now the rest of the story... valet parking was a delight, from dropping off to retrieving, very organized! They treated you right. BUT the one thing that would probably bring us back is Kyle. We sat out on the patio to! watch the parade and asked to have the fire turned on for the chilly night, what a delight it was talking with him! You can't go wrong bonding with someone who's "technology" toy growing up was a 'stick'... he was just 'good people'!

NOT PET FRIENDLY
NOT PET FRIENDLY. Have been coming every Thanksgiving weekend (exception 2020) for 10 years. We bring our 4.5 pound yorkie mix pup with us. She loves to sleep in the big hotel bed during the day while we go walking around and eat at our favorite places. Upon check in - we were told that the new policy is that pets must be with their owners at all times. The concierge told us that Savannah is dog friendly and most of the restaurants were dog friendly. This was not the case at all,. Most of the restaurants allow service animals, but our pup is not a service animal. Had we been made aware of this policy before we traveled to Savannah, we would have booked another hotel that would allow a 4.5 pound dog sleep in the room as she normally does. Because of this updated policy we knew nothing of until check-in, we couldn't go to any of the places we normally go. My husband and I love staying at the Hyatt on the River, but will not stay there moving forward. Our trip was ruined. So disappointing. Hotel should have a disclaimer by their Pet Friendly verbiage informing potential guests that pets must be with owner at all times with no exceptions. And the concierge needs to provide the realistic facts that there may be some pet friendly restaurants, but there are only 3 - 4 small tables in front of the restaurants so don't expect to get one of those tables on a busy weekend.
