Changed rooms upon check in as somethings didn't work. The TV among them. Second room had a broken lamp shade. There was no cleaning service. COVID? Maybe but no one told me. Forget? Maybe. WiFi was garbage AND you have to agree to a charge, "But don't worry, it won't appear on your bill." Say what?

poor customer service, in a beautiful building
I will stay the people in the more traditional service roles were very lovely, but the people at the front desk were very rude and spoke down to guests. Reception/Check in was not only rude to my partner and I once, but twice. It was also the last interaction at the Hotel and left a sour taste in my mouth. It is not somewhere I will be likely to stay again in the near future

Anniversary at The Brown Palace
The hotel was beautiful. Well maintained, clean and a powerful step back in time. Everyone who greeted us was friendly and sincere. We felt like royalty. Our corner suite was nicely decorated and very clean, cool and comfortable for a 95 degree day. Amenities understandably limited Because if Covid. We did not think to bring cups and we missed having ice but it worked out fine. Mattress on bed very hard and uncomfortable with minimal but clean duvet. Coffee shop in lobby very friendly and filled the coffee gap until the Brown Tea and brunch began. Overall, a very good experience.

The Brown has always held a special place in our hearts. The history & the elegance of this beautiful palace keeps us coming back. On our last trip I was minimally disappointed to find only one robe and that had no belt. I had asked the staff to bring me a heavy blanket. What I received was a mattress cover. It was kind of odd. Granted, I had expected things to be normally wonderful. My minor issues should not get in the way of our lovely day.

Wasted money
While i understand the concerns surrounding Covid-19 .... the hotel acts like they are taking every measure. They removed items from the room that are senseless. The coffee marker is gone, the ironing board and iron?? However, the room had leftover soap in the bathtub, plastic tags from someone's clothes and the magazines thet claimed they needed to be remove...hmmm. There wasn't even a plastic cup to have a glass of water. I could gone on and on..about staff not being helpful, the restaurants militant view about wearing a mask...im going for a drink and to eat..what the heck!

Unnatural circumstances
I feel I have to be honest about our latest experience at the Brown. With the crazy world in which we live right not things are definitely not the same. The experience was weird I do have to say. Customer service was hit and miss. The check in person was great and gave us an upgraded room which we greatly appreciated. However, there is no room service, there is not housekeeping they did not service our room for the 5 nights we were there. The restaurants are not all open and if they are they are limited service and times. It was just weird. This is not the standard to which we usually receive at the Brown and it is not what we received in the other hotels we stayed at while crossing the country. It is really just hit and miss. Some places have figured out that they still need to provide customer service and some have not. Hopefully the Brown will return to its normal standard in the future when life returns to normal.
