Would spring for a slightly pricier hotel
After check in at just after midnight, I went up to my room, opened the door with the key the gave me and discovered that there was another guest already in the room. I apologized profusely to the sleeping guest and went back to reception to explain what happened. They apologized and fixed the problem right away. While this should absolutely never have happened, they did take care of the issue. As for the condition of the hotel, you get what you pay for. I picked this one for a quick one-night sleep after a late flight and that’s pretty much all it is good for. My room’s only window was actually a window into the hallway, so I never felt comfortable opening the blinds. There was no fridge or microwave, and the whole hotel minus the lobby seemed kind of shabby. I was disappointed as this has the Marriott name attached to it, but I guess I understand why it was cheaper than other options. Also, the free shuttle from the airport (maybe just the night I arrived) was very slow to pick up. In fact other hotel shuttles passed two or three times before this one. And there were two shuttles for this hotel that arrived about three minutes apart. How do I know there were two? Because the first one slowed but didn’t actually stop to pick us up. Thankfully the second stopped. Again, not sure if it was just this one night or indicative of the shuttle service.
