Was a great place to stay for a few nights on our Europe road trip from UK. Alken was quiet with lots of history, and is around 45 minutes from the Nurburgring, so was perfect for us!

Staff was very friendly and hotel was nice. We were pleased about the location - we landed in Frankfurt and wanted to see Burg Eltz castle. The hotel is right by the water and has some nice restaurants within walking distance (traditional German cuisine and Döner!). The room was clean and met our needs for the night. Breakfast buffet was very good. We were pleased with our stay.

Lovely stay

Only stayed one night when visiting the area with a family member. We had a friendly greeting and our host spoke English. It’s a pet friendly hotel as we had a small dog with us. The mattress and quality of the bedding were superb as was the Prija soap in the loo. Breakfast available for €18 but there is a bakery nearby (closed Wednesdays) for a cheaper option. Quiet area in a quaint village. Wifi did not work in the rooms only lobby area.

On the Mosel River

This hotel is situated with a beautiful view, right across the street from the Mosel River. We enjoyed sitting by the river on a bench with our drinks and watching the boats. And from our window we could see the castle on the hill. But we were disappointed with the room. Our first night we were given a room that was not clean (dust wads and hair in the floor and spiderwebs in the corners) with a disfunctional shower (shower doors were broken and shower didn’t drain). Also there was a loud barking dog in the next room. The next day they moved us to a better room, and it was clean with a working shower. They do have a restaurant, but it was all buffet-style self serve, which we don’t like. So we ate at other restaurants in the area.

Vi vil starte med at rose byen Alken for, at den meget befærdede jernbane (6-7 tog i timen 24/7) ligger på modsatte side af Mosel, hvorfor støj og toglarm kommer lidt på afstand. Hovedspørgsmålet skal dog være: Kan du/I nøjes med byen Alken, som selv i hovedsæsonen er helt lukket ned kl. 20:00 hver aften, eller skal du/I hellere vælge tyristmagneten Cochen, som stråler med Eventyrslot, et hav af butikker, restauranter, turbåde og lift til bjerget. Hvis du/I vælger roen, afslapningen og dermed byen Alken, så er hotel Dormero et godt valg, hvor du både kan vælge de store nyrenoverede værelser i Bygning 2 (dårlig udsigt men ingen støj fra vej eller tog). Hotellet skal absolut roses for deres meget flotte Morgenbuffet, hvor der virkelig ikke mangler noget, og hvor der er noget til enhver smag. Fantastisk Kaffe og kage om eftermiddagen. Aftenbuffet kan tilkøbes direkte på hotellet (30 Euro/person). En hel flaske Risling Moselvin kan i hotellets Restauranr købes til kun 22-28 Euro. Der er fri parkering langs hovedvejen og der er rigeligt med pladser. I nabobyen Løf kan du/I leje elcykler for 30 euro/dag og det er et must når området byder på et hav af cykelruter langs den flotte Mosel. Hotel Dormero er et godt udgangspunkt til de mange vandreruter. Offentlig transport (bus) foran hotellet. Sidst men ikke mindst, så er området kendt for sine hundredevis af små vinproducenter, og hver eneste by langs Mosel har sine egne vine som ligger i prisniveauet 6-10 Euro pr. flaske. God tur !

Great location guy who works in reception needs a wage upgrade as he seemed to do all the jobs in hotel including reception, serving food, etc very nice guy..but rooms definitely need upgrading dirty shower, cleaning materials and dirty laundry sitting in front our room door. Big bedroom but not very clean
