Our second stay at the Aquabella and we cannot praise the hotel staff enough. Our stay was spoilt by a bout of gastro enteritis I picked up two days before we were due to travel back to Paris. (Nothing to do with the hotel). Not good for anyone, but for a 71 year old this could have been quite serious. The reception staff were particularly helpful and concerned for my wellbeing and cancelled a pre booked sea trip from Marsailles for us managing to secure a full refund for us as well. Unfortunately I needed to see a doctor before I could travel, and the reception staff arranged this for me within half an hour of my request. Upon checking out, the reception staff were very attentive showing a concern I have seldom seen in any other hotel, providing me with coffee and/or water during our wait for our taxi and explaining the situation to the driver when he arrived. The staff took our suitcases to the taxi, loaded them in for us and refused any tips for their trouble. Our thanks to Christoph and all the other hotel staff who helped us through a difficult period. Like General MacArthur we will return!

Very nice hotel, central position. Friendly staff. If you plan to use the spa/beauty salon facilities : consider making the appointment in advance of your arrival because they were fully booked the weekend I visited Aix.

Spa Stay
Upon arrival, we were upgraded to an extremely comfortable, light and spacious room on the 4th floor with a huge, extremely comfortable bed & a private balcony featuring views beyond the town to the countryside beyond, which was a lovely surprise. Staff were uniformly courteous and helpful, which was an improvement from our previous stay when upon leaving, our taxi to go to the airport failed to arrive & despite having been booked by staff, they largely tried to ignore us & the problem! The hotel's thermal baths / spa is a fantastic bonus, especially as there are no extra charges to use the sauna and jacuzzi. The only real drawback to the hotel is that although it is extremely conveniently located on the edge of the old town, it is situated close to a student residence and bar. On the 4th floor we could barely hear the background noise from student parties, etc, but on our previous stay on the second floor, we were kept awake at night by the students sitting out late in the street below. The staff try, but can do little about this problem, so if you're a light sleeper, take as high a room as possible at the back / cityside of the hotel, or ask for a room at the front / gardenside. We didn't take breakfast or dinner (which isn't included automatically with your room reservation), so I can't comment on the hotel catering. All in all, this spa hotel is very comfortable and very good value for money in the expensive town of Aix.
