Good hotel but...
It's a good hotel, our only problem was the wifi wouldn't work in our room.

8/10 Very good

Comfortable, quiet, good food and friendly staff.
Our Executive room was large, comfortable and very clean. Hotel is in central location in Glenridding, but at this time of year there was no noise from road in the evening or overnight. Breakfast was very “British”, full range of cooked options. Main restaurant not open in the evening as insufficient number of guests, but staff happy to serve you in restaurant next to bar if you want a restaurant, not bar ambiance. Food quality excellent, bar type menu, not fine dining. Service friendly, but at busy times slow, and definitely not “silver service”. Coffee shop and bar popular with walkers and non residents. Very good cakes in coffee shop. Residents lounge, bar and library well appointed, but no atmosphere as hotel not very busy mid week.

Very nice hotel at a reasojable price.
Very clean and cosy hotel close to the lakeside. Pool and sauna was a nice bonus after a nice long walk.

Nice, friendly hotel, refurbished after floods
Centrally located in small Glenridding with nice views over the lake from upper floors. Small car park. Small pool with kiddies paddling area, jacuzzi section and sauna. Basement Bar with nice food and restaurant with same menu (smarter restaurant still being refurbed). Was through coffee bar with good cakes and snack lunch menu open to nonresidents and dogs. Not a great hotel if you have mobility issues as small flights of stairs/steps occur regularly. Good breakfast choice (service can be slow if busy). Drying room on first floor for wet walking clothes. Friendly staff. (Beware, only Vodafone mobile reception in the village)

Great size room facing Ullswater
Third stay at hotel, we had an end room overlooking the water. The other side may say mountain view but it is right next to the road, and having stayed there, a little noisy andnot as nice. The location is perfect, the bar is fine and food acceptable for the price. All in all good hotel, be wary of rooms. We were in room 4, good size, dual aspect.

Very nice, welcoming hotel in beautiful lakeland.
Spent very happy & comfortable couple of days for a family reunion in this welcoming hotel set in lovely lake district setting.Staff were eager to please & "dog friendly" approach was a real bonus. All the family would certainly pay a return visit.

Great Location
I love Glenridding and the surrounding area and Storm Desmond devastated the area not too long ago. However the local area is being restored and it is good to see local businesses getting back on track. I chose this hotel as it has an excellent location, with parking. The hotel and rooms are clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. I was disappointed to find the pool didn't have a complete refurbishment following the floods. The decor is very outdated and the layout of the changing facilities could be altered as there is a small shared changing area for men and women so I had to go back to my room for a proper shower after my swim. There is room to do this if they get rid of the 'games area' and glass wall leading into the coffee shop. The only other nuisance with this hotel was the number of flies when eating my dinner. I appreciate that it is difficult to control flies when near water and food smells and when it is hot you do want the doors open however a screen may help with this as I was literally eating one handed and swatting the flies away with the other. Overall a good hotel in an excellent location.

Beautiful Glenridding
Great hotel in a fantastic location! Staff all very friendly & helpful which made us all feel welcome. Lift currently being replaced so you have to use the stairs but as it's only 3 stories it's not an issue. Swimming pool could be a little warmer & we'd definitely have spent more time in there. Food was excellent & great Whisky selection!!!

Very very expensive for what it is
Stayed here night before a friends wedding, thought having paid almost £100 for what was a clean but very basic room that breakfast was included only to find that after having breakfast I was charged a further £15!! No price list on arrival to breakfast room and no time told by staff that this was in fact extra, very disappointing and breakfast certainly extremely over priced!!

Lovely hotel very close to Ullswater
This hotel was very close to Ullswater and local shops etc. It was very clean and modern and the staff were welcoming. We used the pool and sauna and this area was exceptionally clean. We had the pool to ourselves which was fantastic for a pre-breakfast swim! Breakfast was served in a lovely room with fabulous views. Food was great, although we weren't asked which type of eggs we preferred and we were given fried which wouldn't have been our first choice. Not a great selection of yoghurts either - just natural. We had a short but excellent stay here - only one real complaint that the room was quite overpriced. Wi-Fi was slow.

Could Be So Much Better
Hotel so promising but let down by basics . Beds were very poor quality and given price fact breakfast not included not acceptable . May explain why hot el virtually empty at start of the high season

One to the Top Hotels in the Area of Ullswater.
It has extensive facilities, a good WiFi connection. A good size swimming pool, (no time to use) with a first class restaurant serving a good chose of styles on 'hot plates' including an extensive Breakfast selection. A late serving Coffe Shop which is useful if your arrive back late, a safe 10 minute walk to Patterdale Chuch for your Saturday Night musical interests. During the warm weather our Top bedroom was very hot during the night with no breeze to cool it down, the following morning I found 'Fans' were available!!. We enjoyed the lake side views, mountains and the lake steamer passing by, just a short distance down the road from the hotel, I noticed 'Electric car charging spaces' at the jetty. We had to park with approval by the staff in the disabled parking space at the Glenridding Hotel as all other spaces in the (3?) parking areas were full.

Relaxing pleasant place to holiday
A pure delight in a beautiful location. Enough people around to create an atmosphere but not as commercialised or crowded as other venues in the Lake District e.g. Windermere or Ambleside but for us that was an absolute perk. Lovely staff, room and location. I would certainly go back

Lovely relaxed hotel
We have just come back from a few days at the Glenridding Hotel and were not sure what to expect given the mixed reviews. Our experience was that it was a lovely hotel, with very friendly staff and a really relaxed atmosphere. We paid for a superior room which had a lake view and that was worth the extra. The breakfasts were fine and there were lots of places to sit and relax both inside and outside the hotel. The swimming pool is small but more than adequate and I had it to myself which made up for the size. The decor is absolutely fine - from other reviews it sounded like it was falling down - it isn't. It's set next to a little stream and you cross a little road and a walk across a field to get to the lake. There are plenty of benches to sit by the lake and places to hire boats - definitely recommended. We did try the hotel restaurant. While the food downstairs in Ratchers is great, the hotel restaurant although great in terms of location and service, could do with a new chef. It was edible but pretty tasteless which was a shame. It was also empty which didn't help. We had also tried the Inn on the Lake and another restaurant both of which were fully booked which tells you that the demand is there but something is not right. Having said that, the Inn on the Lake looked far more formal and I don't think we would have enjoyed our stay there as much or felt as relaxed. In all, I would recommend the hotel and we did very much enjoy our stay there.

Luxurious and romantic for couples
Absolutely gorgeous hotel with fantastic views, however we requested a four poster bed and did not get one, we assumed they were booked but learned there was one available, very disappointed so would recommend you keep double checking everything even though you shouldn't need to

Love the area, but our room was very noisy!
We arrived a day early and had no problems getting a room. Loved the pool area - very relaxing. Loved the outside area - just beautiful, had some great walks. Very close to the steamers, which was a wonderful trip on the lake. The only problem we had was a very noisy room. Sounded like water was being turned off and on constantly, and then would end with a grinding noise, which made it difficult to sleep at night. I notified the person at the desk and was told that it was an old building and it would be difficult to know what was making the noises. I feel sorry for the next people that get this room!
