Fantastic stay
Really enjoyed our stay but as other reviewers had said the rooms are getting a bit tired. Everything was very clean though and it didn't spoil our stay in this beautiful area. It is in the best location right at the foot of the mountain. Other properties are a good 10 min drive in the village which is very spread out. We had the suite which slept 9 people with 1 double and 3 singles in the loft, 1 queen in a bedroom and 1 king in the second bedroom. There were 3 bathrooms so loads of space.

Hotel desperately needs TLC (but perfect location)
The hotel is in a perfect location at the foot of Mammoth's main lodge with easy access to several chairs. That's the good stuff discussed. Now... The hotel urgently needs some love. The decor is extremely dated and the facilities not well maintained. For example, to get to the roof based hot tub, you are required to walk through an underground car park then up several flights of metal steps which my wife said reminded her of our tour of Alcatraz prison. The walls need a lick of paint and someone to show that they care. I really can't see this being how Dave McCoy pictured his dream resort looking over 60yrs later. The staff really aren't very clued up either - we asked a couple of simple questions regarding lessons, bus pick-up times and equipment rental, none of which they seemed to know or could be bothered to find out. Maybe because the bulk of staff are seasonal workers from out of town and after the season, don't really care, or maybe they're just so laid back and again, don't care. It's such a shame. This hotel has a tonne of unrealised potential - I'd bang a 'snug' in with beanbags and show movies every night (for free, even with free popcorn for guests), improve the wifi, get the staff to have a bit more enthusiasm, lower the prices of the small 'snack' store, paint everything, re-carpet and just generally make guests feel like they care. Closing - I know the majority of people will be wearing wet ski gear but not an excuse to not care about the decor et
