Hotel Pulitzer Barcelona

I've stayed here maybe 12-15 times in the past three years. They're pretty dreadful at rewarding customer loyalty. In the whole time I've stayed here, not once have I ever been upgraded (and I've stayed there plenty of times when it is far from fully occupied), but this time I was given a free cookie! With OTAs and related platforms dominating customer choice, hotels like this one, which admittedly is very nice and central, really needs to up its game regarding customer loyalty.

Very handy location but also quiet

Located just off Pl Catalunya (where the airport bus terminates) so very convenient. No issue with noise. Nicely presented hotel, has a relaxed vibe. The kind of hotel that feels a bit like staying in a friend's apartment for a couple of days. Nice bar/lounge area with different groups of seats (sofas, long tables, coffee tables). Staff friendly and not at all pushy. Room initially felt a bit strange... Long and narrow design (the way they've converted the building). But not a problem at all. No writing desk in my room, may be a problem on a work trip. But lots of cupboard and hanging space. I took the buffet breakfast, which is nice. Breads, cakes, Spanish omelette, yoghurt etc in the buffet, and they will make some fresh eggs if you like. Lots of cafes and restaurants in easy reach. Large shopping centre in the same block. Small issue with the lights in the room, where I could not get a standing light to turn off... I just unscrewed the bulb.
