Mazarin Quarter
Stroll through the elegant Mazarin Quarter where 17th-century mansions line geometrically perfect streets. Art lovers flock to the Granet Museum for its impressive Cézanne collection, while hidden courtyards reveal charming antique shops and galleries. The honey-colored limestone buildings and wrought-iron balconies create a refined atmosphere that feels both historic and alive. Upscale bistros serve traditional Provençal cuisine between morning coffee and evening wine at intimate café terraces. Boutique hotels in restored mansions offer an authentic stay in this walkable area. Most Aix-en-Provence attractions are within a 10-minute stroll, making this peaceful quarter an ideal base for exploration.

Aix-en-Provence Historic Centre
Aix-en-Provence Historic Centre invites you to wander cobblestone streets lined with golden limestone buildings and elegant fountains. Art lovers can explore the Granet Museum showcasing Cézanne's works, while history buffs will appreciate the Cathédrale Saint-Sauveur's Romanesque towers. The tree-shaded Cours Mirabeau buzzes with café terraces where you can people-watch all afternoon. Traditional Provençal bistros and trendy wine bars offer bouillabaisse and local wines throughout this walkable district. Most attractions sit within 500 metres of each other, making exploration a breeze. Parc Saint-Mitre provides a peaceful green retreat with Mediterranean vegetation and walking paths, perfect for afternoon strolls and picnics. The area features charming family-run bistros serving traditional Provençal cuisine at reasonable prices. Most accommodation is holiday rentals or small chambres d'hôtes in traditional stone buildings with red-tiled roofs. While public transport is limited, the quiet streets make walking pleasant.

Aquabella Hôtel & Spa
"Swimming pool and outside bar/ restaurant were fabulous."
Château de la Gaude - Relais & Châteaux
"My wife and I stayed here for three nights. The chateau is located in a beautiful and isolated area. You can spend your time just walking and enjoying the garden and winery. The room itself was lovely and large with a great view of the gardens, Note that it is a historic building with no elevators. We got our stair steps in as we were on the third (American count) floor. We had just stayed in Hotel St. Remy which was a small boutique hotel. The service here felt a bit impersonal. The other inconvenience was that it is a drive from Aix-en-Provence where we wanted to spend more of our time. Driving to and finding parking in Aix was a chore. If your goal is to just enjoy the chateau and relax then this is a great choice. If you plan to spend more time in Aix then you are probably better off staying there."
Radisson Hotel Aix en Provence

Grand Hôtel Roi René Aix - MGallery Collection
"Excellent location and amazing team. We were unable to Use the pool As it was full screaming kids and families. Not what we were looking for. But amazing for families"
SetClub Hôtel & Spa
"WE had room 46, which was to the back of the hotel. When we checked in, we were told that we would be able to park right outside the room, but when we walked round to the room, there were concrete blocks preventing us from leaving the road to park outside the room. So, we parked in the road whilst we emptied the car. Downstairs was a seating area, and the toilet right off this area, which we thought a bit strange. If the toilet was used, then the consequences of the use would fill the seating area. The tea and coffee making area was also in the lounge area, but the strange thing is that there is no sink or water supply downstairs. So, to get water for the kettle, or to wash your hands after using the toilet,, you have to navigate the stairs, which are a little tight."
Renaissance Aix-en-Provence Hotel
"Excellent in every way. Beautiful hotel at the most convenient location. Top notch rooms with plenty of space and best cleanliness. Food was really good with so many options. Huge shout out to the hotel staff. They were the most friendly and helpful people."
thecamp Hotel & Lodges - Aix en Provence
"Stayed for a week with family. Amazing location and ideally placed for trips into Aix and surrounding areas and about 30 minutes to nice beaches. Stayed in a basic but comfortable twin room. Window in the room is strange as if the blind is open people walking past can look straight in. Shower doesn’t have a door so water goes all over the floor. Beds are comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space, a desk and a bedside table. Air conditioning was great even in 38 degree heat. There are no balconies in these rooms. Pool is lovely but there are only 16 sun loungers and guests are claiming these at 8am before going off to do other things. Some of these loungers are empty for hours and I witnessed arguments and towel throwing when other guests decided to occupy these empty loungers and the original guests returned. It is never clear which of the venues are open for food and drink and at what time. On a Friday and Saturday night some sort of private night club takes over one of the venues and everything else closes so you are unable to get anything to eat or drink. There is no vending machine so if you don’t want to go out there is absolutely nothing. You can get a takeaway delivered Food and drink, when you can get it, is good and reasonably priced. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely return but if the communication around bar/restaurant opening could improve and if the sun lounger situation could be sorted out, it would be even better."
Hotel Le Pigonnet
"Beautiful property! The grounds were breathtaking and the newly remodeled rooms were stunning. The staff were all very kind and helpful. It’s about a 15 minute walk into town which is quite doable."
Hotel Escaletto
"Great hotel in a very convenient location. Really liked it - so close to the squares and side streets where it was all happening."

Additionally, there are opportunities for shopping and even bowling, making your visit both enjoyable and great value for money. Since prices may drop during these months, it’s an excellent chance to experience the rich heritage of Aix-en-Provence without breaking the bank.

This way, you’re more likely to seize the opportunity for a spontaneous getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate due to factors such as the hotel’s location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a more favourable rate for your stay in an Aix-en-Provence hotel. For those seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised touch and may offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we’ll suggest alternative dates that might help you discover a more advantageous option.
- Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive; however, thanks to Aix-en-Provence's excellent public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel located slightly further out that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often great value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
