I recently stayed at Constance Prince Maurice during my honeymoon, and it was incredibly disappointing.
We arrived in Mauritius at 12:30 PM and reached the hotel by 3 PM, starving after our last meal at 11 AM on the plane. Expecting to grab a bite at this five-star hotel, our request for food was refused. The kitchen closed at 6 PM, and a staff member rudely told us to "go eat something in your room." This service is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber.
After insisting on speaking to the manager, we were seated away from other diners, which felt isolating. Despite our complaints, we were convinced to stay, hoping for improvement.
The next day, after visiting a nature park, we returned around 5 PM to relax by the pool, expecting a peaceful evening. However, at 7 PM, we were told to leave because the pool was closing for cleaning, though no cleaning was happening. Our moment was shattered, and we were told that if we didn’t like the rules, we should leave.
Feeling stranded, we decided to check out. The staff argued that they had our money and wouldn’t let us leave, showing little regard for our situation. With limited funds after our wedding, we felt trapped. We had to find another hotel at 11:30 PM, settling for a lower-rated place.
Our honeymoon was ruined by this lack of hospitality. I advise against staying at Constance Prince Maurice. They showed a complete lack of care and left us to fend for ourselves in a foreign country. Choose a hotel that values its guests.
