"Rooms a lovely, if a bit warm. Lovely and characterful - which is impressive for a building which is only 10 or so years old. Only slight downside was the food at night. Which was a bit average. But as a hotel, for the price you pay, can’t fault it"

Durdle Door Hotel

Durdle Door Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"A lovely winter break in a perfect location. Staff went above and beyond to accomodate our requests during our stay, an extended family get together for a special birthday (8 people). We had four rooms for our family, good sized family room with double, single and sofa bed with nice sea peek; a twin with sea views; and two doubles, one sea view side. The hotel is a brick historic Victorian country house hotel set in a great elevated position in West Lulworth, a short stroll up from the cove. Rooms in the house are cosy and clean with modern decor and bathrooms. We all found the beds and pillows very comfortable and had a great sleep, despite the wild weather outside! There is a lovely spacious contemporary lounge/dining space which was great for our family to hang out together, with board games and bar. The hotel doesn't do full restaurant any more since change of ownership, they offer pizzas and I think a few bar snack type choices which we didn't try as we ate out locally. The continental breakfast was good, an optional extra, which is a buffet with pastries, pancakes, toast, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cheese, cold meats, good coffee in the lovely large orangery dining space which has beautiful views. Parking permits can be arranged via a code from the hotel for the main Lulworth car park with a small parking area at the hotel for unloading on arrival. A perfect January stay in a beautiful location. Reasonable value rooms. We would stay here again. "

  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals in Portland, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute DealsOpens in a new window sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted rates on hotels as your travel date approaches. You could also enable email alerts or push notifications to stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, ensuring you don't miss chances to save on budget hotels. The Smart ShoppingOpens in a new window tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, so if prices drop or new rooms become available, you’re more likely to see those updates and secure your last-minute getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so having some flexibility with your travel dates could help you save on your stay in a hotel in Portland. For those seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and, at times, a better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher end, we will suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, helping you secure a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Staying closer to key attractions or city centres may offer convenience but often comes at a higher price. For more affordable options, consider hotels in less central areas or neighbourhoods, striking a balance between cost and accessibility to the sites you wish to visit. You might also look into independent hotels located further out, which are usually more likely to be affordable and can provide a more authentic experience.
