It's sad to see a hotel with soo much potential be in this state. With a few improvements (starting with guest relations and bathroom renovations) Bay View could very well be a 4 star hotel. In addition, general communications standards need to be improved (e.g not explaining the filter water in the room, not explaining how the locks work but explaining items that did not need elaborating - certainly some things seem obvious in retrospect). The staff are great, friendly and need to be forgiven re: language barrier but may need some training. I read a comment saying they were great but ineffectual - I agree. Sadly, for now, a 3 star rating is generous. Have a look at the sister hotel Bay Samui Resort to form an opinion on the group. That being said, we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is recommended to anyone who doesn't mind the exercise involved in accessing the hotel + rooms and isn't too picky on service or bathrooms.

Gorgeous View!

Hotel has its own free longboat service to get help take you and your bags to and from the ferry. Walk to main part of town was short, only a tiny bit across the beach then on a path. Hotel room was nice. Pool area, bar area and bathrooms in need of some TLC.
Matt, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

The room was really nice. However, you need to walk up and down steep hills ALOT!!! Also, the pool says it has a swim up bar…it does NOT! It also only has about 4 chairs and is sketchy. Gotta love cats cause they are everywhere!!! 😻

Views for days!

We checked in early and received an upgraded room on the beach. Private beach and view was phenomenal! All staff was very courteous and the rooms were comfortable and very nice!
Jennifer, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Spectacular view from the room, common areas such as the pool and restaurant are very poor. Basic breakfast but what makes it worth it are the rooms with a view of the bay and the location of the hotel.
ALEXANDER, 4-night trip

6/10 Good

Property was on the beach, each villa had a view/partial view of water. That was great. Condition of the rooms were dated and old, pool bar and other bar areas other than the main facility were neglected and not set up for use. Good location and service, but dated, old needs some repair.
Ian, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

We stayed in a Villa with seaview. The room is good and balconies overlook the beach and cliffs of Phi Phi. The property is a bit further out of the main area and you have to at the end of the pathway walk for a few metres on sand to reach the reception. Although the rooms are spacious and have nice views, the bathrooms are in need of a reno, we had a handhold shower with low pressure and toilets do not flush well.
Carolina, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

We rented a bungalow with ocean view. The room itself looked like on the pictures and the living room was large and clean. However, the bathroom was filthy and dirty. It looked like something you expect from a hostel. We notified the front desk and she offered another bungalow or to send the cleaning crew. We didn’t want to move so we opted for the cleaning crew. Even after visiting twice it was still nasty. The restaurant and reception is also outdated and needs renovations. The location is great about 10-15 minutes to the center and it offers a very nice beach.
Daniel, 4-night trip

The property is on the side of a hill which is quite steep this property is not suitable for anyone who has mobility issues However it is close to town but with the feeling that it is in the jungle It is nice and quiet the reception is on the beach I loved the location it gave the best of both worlds I would stay here again
barbara, 14-night trip

8/10 Very good

A super villa with good views. It is quite a walk from the pier and a bit hilly from reception to the villa itself. Our villa was missing bottles of water. We had also been looking forward to going in the pool, but we were not informed about the pool being closed until we arrived at check in.
Simon, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

This property needs some rehabilitation. The bungalow was in rough shape; bathroom was gross. We saw two cockroaches in our room. The walk to our bungalow was long and hilly. The property was not conveniently located. While they do provide luggage service via longboat, when we were in town we asked the longboat driver if we could get a ride back on the next boat and he said “you walk”. Breakfast was so so. The pool was cloudy, dirty and not well kept. Would not recommend, especially for the price we paid. One plus: the view was amazing and the beach was nice, but I think you can get that at any beachfront hotel on Phi Phi.
Sharlene, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

An old property and many areas are run down. It’s situated in a quiet corner of the island and has a nice little beach by the lobby and lounge area. Many rooms also have a nice beach view. The downside is that the property really need some renovation as many rooms and areas are falling apart. It was built almost 40 years ago and was once premiere hotel on Ko Phi Phi. But the years have worn it down. Unless you can get this hotel at a deep discount, it’s probably better to book another room elsewhere.
Krai, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Quiet location - 15 min walk to harbor area. Comfortable room ( Grand Deluxe Villa SeaView )with great view 2nd level up. Can walk to Love Beach, Viking beach, and Long Beach across hillside stepping stones. Breakfast had a fair selection. Staff helpfully. Shuttle service to ferry. BUT NO SWIMMING POOL AS UNDER MAINTENANCE - not informed until arrival NO RESTAURANT FOR LUNCH OR DINNER NO BBQ OR PICNIC AREA SAND/BEACH ACCESS TO HOTEL ONLY VERY HILLY SITE FOR OLDER LEGS NO MINIBAR - fridge only, water supplied daily NO SLIPPERS IN OUR ROOM. PhiPhi is a wonderful beautiful Island so next time would stay elsewhere

8/10 Very good

The room is nice and has a beautiful view. The bathroom is big, but it is screaming for a renovation. The toilet is stained and disgusting. You also have to walk on the sand to get to the hotel. Literally there is no road or pavement that leads you to the hotel, so every time you leave the hotel you will get your feet and/or shoes dirty. It is also a good 20-minute walk away from the main area, which limits your convenience to get food or anything. Besides the sand, you will also have to go up uphill to get to your room. A bit hard on the legs, but a great end to the cardio session you had after walking for 20 minutes to get back to the hotel.
Ligia, 4-night trip

8/10 Very good

the only good thing i could say for this property is the beautiful view it offers. its a far walk from the pier, and partially through sand since the pathway ends before getting to the resort. the room was very very dirty with bugs and lizards able to get inside easily due to cracks around the main door. after walking nearly 1km to reach the resort, we had to walk mostly uphill to our villa. the breakfast was extremely limited. the bed was uncomfortable and small. if you are willing to risk the quality of the villa/room for the quality of the view, this is the place!
Jessica, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

The view of the bay and nearby Phi Phi Leh Island is incredible and is really the main selling point for staying here. The grounds are also quite pretty. If you like quiet, then the private beach is also nice. (If you're looking for more action and a party like atmosphere, then you're going to want to visit Lo Dalum Beach - which is about a 15 minute walk away). The room we stayed in itself was okay. The bathroom windows didn't close all the way so that was a problem in terms of keeping out mosquitoes and keeping in air conditioned cold air. (I should note though, that this is not unusual for hotels in this area.) The property is a little bit of a walk from the main area of town and Lo Dalum Beach, but it's not bad if you're not doing it with luggage. There are coffee shops, stores, restaurants and bars all along the way and you have gorgeous views of the harbor as you walk. Note though, that when you first arrive, the hotel staff can meet you at the pier and bring you and your luggage on a long tail boat to the property. While it is possible to walk from the pier, we were happy to be able to utilize the complimentary hotel luggage transfer service.
Regina, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Super view

The walk from the pier was pretty terrible but you could arrange when they are there to collect luggage (a few times a day but I missed them). The room I had was great. Super comfortable bed, big television, lovely balcony With stunning views and comfortable seats and loungers on the balcony. They also have a cute detail that is a an electric insect tennis bat to kill possible insects with ease. I did not see it he pool so can’t comment on this. Notes: it’s pretty out of the way and there is some climbing involved. I would not advise to stay here if you’re a bad walker.
The room with views over ‘the beach’ island
Private beach with loungers and super views
Nicolet, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

Let me first start with that the view is spectacular but to get there and to your room is way to hard .. very steep and a massive climb.. the pool is closed due to maintenance so after a massive climb to your room there’s no way to cool down … bar is very limited as in there is 1 try of beer and the bar closes at 5pm .. no dinner service so you have to leave the property for food and the only way to food is a walk down through the sand and a 10 min walk .. I do not recommend unless your fine with not having any of this .. once again though view is beautiful.
Christine, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

We arrived and were told the room we had booked had been given to someone else. We paid extra for a nicer room and to be told on the check in day after a whole day of travel it was not available was ridiculous. What’s worse is they were not upfront intially and we were stood waiting 20 minutes. They should have messaged us before hand to let us know. They stated that apparently Expedia does not pay them in advance so they gave the room away? They did put us in a different room which was semi decent and afterward staff were nice and gave us a nice fruit platter. I understand it may have been system issue but it was frustrating at time. Room was decent and breakfast was okay.
Maysa, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Some disappointment

Liked overall but only gave 3 stars: their site says they take credit cards but in reality only for room. Everything else is cash only. including $1000 baht key deposit. Also, most bungalows are up steep incline. It was too much for me but they did put me in a lower room. Also, click on instructions on the hotel page and note that if you need a water taxi you have to reserve several days in advance. Otherwise you walk. No vehicles on the island. I found it on googe maps and walked. Not awful but was super hot and sweaty when I got there. Breakfast buffet avg to below avg. But they are generous with bottled water and have coffee pkts in your room. Nice location if you don't mind walking. A bit miffed when I checked out and they told me I had to wait while they inspected room.
Jane, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

At check in they could not find my Expedia reservation which was kind of scary. I had booked a garden view room in the premier section. I apparently was upgrade because I received an ocean view room right above the beach at the far end. It was a similar room but the view was really nice. The biggest complaint was that the property is very large and walking to my room from reception was 10-15 minutes alone down the up and down paths. And then to wk into town was another 20 mins so I got lots of steps in each day I was there! If you have mobility issues do not stay here. The resort itself is kept up pretty well. The cleaning staff does a mediocre job in the room, having only half cleaned it most days, missing changing towels, or coffee, or tp etc. but not a huge deal. The included breakfast was excellent I did not use the pool as yes it does need tile repair. It appeared clean but the water seemed low in the pool and it didn’t really look appealing. Now the biggest concern I read in reviews were the hot water, and cleanliness of sheets and towels etc. I did not have any problems with the hot water in the unit. In fact it was so hot that I had to be careful as you could badly burn yourself - it will come out boiling hot. The bedsheets were perfectly white and clean and the towels were good quality and clean. Overall, nice stay. Would I stay again? Location a bit far from town but definitely a beautiful location and needs some updates to pool and some things.
