Desk staff were friendly enough but were not expecting me and had no interest in my confirmation number. They asked if we booked through Expedia, but seemed unfamiliar with Orbitz.
But they honored the reservation and the price and asked us to sit down (presumably while they get a room ready).
The bed is nice and firm and has a real mattress of an Asian variety.
The shower is nice and warm and has the Australian-like water-saving head. So you get ok pressure but little water. The hot water lasts for an entire shower.
The reservation says "partial ocean view." Listen, this is not true. The beach is ten minutes walk away crossing two busy roads. Our balcony faces east while the ocean is a half kilometer to the west.
Mini fridge has a door that doesn't close. It isn't on.
When I brought 5 Rohingya to my room to talk for a few hours, no one batted an eye. So that is positive.
This hotel does not have a restaurant. But our reservation included "free breakfast." So when we asked about this, they gave us a voucher for a restaurant next door. Breakfast was paratha and vegetables, and an omelette. The next morning we had to ask for another voucher, and this was to a different restaurant, also nearby. And breakfast was, again, paratha (think fresh wheat tortillas) and vegetables, and an omelette.
Our second night we were startled from sleep at 9:30 by loud knocking on our door by housekeeping.
Staff kindly watched out for us, always asking what they could do to help.
