I was greeted by a friendly, delightful woman who expressed concern about me traveling alone as a woman. She confided that a number of nearby motels "are full of prostitutes", but assured me that the owner "won't tolerate that", so Value Inn was safe ("the police aren't called here very often."). I was a little concerned when I found that my room's door was difficult to close, and I couldn't throw the deadbolt because of the sticky door.
Nevertheless, not only was I safe, but the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the environment was quiet enough for me to get a good rest before my marathon the following day. The room smelled a little musty, and the furnishings were simple, but Value Inn provided everything that I really needed for a good night's rest.
