Close to Plaza de Armas
This is a great value place to stay. The host was excellent and spoke good English. You could walk to Plaza de Armas in minutes and Sacsayhuaman was only about a half hour out. I was able to get picked up from the hotel for all the guided tours as well. They do only take cash, but it can be made in USD or Sols so that’s a convenience if you forget to go by a money exchange before checking in. If you want to save money on hotel expenses, give this one a look that is close to most everything in the city!

Hotel is clean, well functional and well located. Hot water anytime for good shower. Not far from central square but quiet at nighttime for good sleep. Owner Martin speaks good English. He was extremely attentive and super helpful to guest. He arranged taxi and several tours for us also helped with many other things that saved us money and time. Perfect place to stay in Cusco!

Martin (in the morning) and Rosa (in the evening) were very helpful and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, from early breakfast to booking tours and taxis. I stayed here twice and each room was spacious and comfortable. It is a 15 min walk from the main square and Av El Sol has atms, interbank (for Machu Picchu bus ticket) and the main office to purchase tourist tickets for Sacred Valley sights

Great place to stay
This guest house turned out to be better than expected. We originally chose the hotel / guest house because of its proximity to the trekking company we used to hike the Inca Trail. As it turns out, the location is great for seeing most of Cusco Central. We were able to walk everywhere. Our hosts were absolutely wonderful. We at first only booked 3 nights before our trek but before we left we asked Martin if a room would be available after we finished the trek and he said there was. We stayed another night then went on a 5 day Jungle tour. Before leaving, we again asked if there would be availability upon our return and, he said there would be so we stay another 3 nights. Each time we left and came back was like coming home. Martin is very accommodating, packed a lunch each day we went on excursions. He gave recommendations and really took care of us. The place is very clean, comfortable, easy to get to. Close to city center wifi worked just fine for the minimal time we used it. Nice hot showers. 4 days on the Inca Trail, extra day in Aguas Caliente, 5 days in the jungle. We had to do laundry. Our hosts took care of it for a small fee. We would definitely return if possible. Thank you Martin!

We had to leave super early in the morning to catch a train. The hostess offered to pack us a breakfast to go. They scheduled a taxi for us, but when the taxi was late the host himself took us to the train station a half an hour away. Excellent people excellent service!

Excellent hosts, with the main host spaking English fluently! If I had any question, I could just ask. He knows what travellers are looking for. He is sooooo helpful! We had a fantastic traditional Peruvian meal at one of the restaurants that he had recommended. By the time we checked in, we’ve already done Machu Picchu, but we saw him helping out other people with all sorts of things for their trips to Machu Picchu. Other hosts, even though they couldn’t speak English well, they were very nice and helpful. Our room and bathroom were exceptionally clean as well as the common area with a kitchen. It is also budget friendly and well located. The main street behind the building connects to the historic centre and is very easy to walk compared to most other tiny streets in Cusco. Good breakfast, and the host offered eggs. We already miss his fried eggs. For people who are looking for a simple and clean place, I definitely recommend La Escala!

Great place with great staff
The place has a homey feeling and the staff is very helpful. Martin speaks perfect English which was great as our Spanish is very limited. The hotel is walking distance from the center, the busstation and the street where you can take the collectivos to Ollantaytambo.

8/10 Very good

B&B run by the nicest people!
The people that work here are the best. Martin, Nathgy and Rosa were all great. Martin cooked us eggs in the morning, gave us tips of where to go, and on the morning of our departure got up at 5AM to make sure that the cab he called the night before picked us up! Just incredible service. The room we had was spacious as was the bathroom. The way the shower is set up though, the floor would get wet easily. The plumbing can't handle toilet paper down the pipes, but we had no issues with the toilet. Overall, these were not big problems and I would stay here again easily! About ten minute walk to the Plaza des armas.

Nice guest house
Guest house is just 10 minutes walk from historical Cusco. It was a very pleasant stay with one of the most helpful hosts around. We stayed 2 nights. One before and one after our visit to Machu Picchu. We were allowed to keep our baggage overnight. Cusco's temperature often drops below 10 degrees at night. Our rooms were warm and comfortable. We rested well.

Incredible Oasis
We stayed at La Escala Guest house for 4 nights. Nathgy and her husband Martin were very kind and helpful. They allowed us to leave our luggage in our room when we went to Machu Picchu and when we came back, our room was cleaned and just as we left it. Martin made us breakfast every morning. They were so kind as to let us have an extra breakfast on our first morning there. We arrived by Hop on Hop off bus at 6am and felt very welcome there. I would recommend this Oasis to anyone visiting Cusco. It was near everything that we could walk to.

Helpful, friendly hosts
We stayed five days at La Escala before going to Machu Picchu, and another two days after. Martín and Nathgy made us feel at home, and gave us tons of help with local transportation, area attractions, and connections to Peru Rail (Poroy) and Cusco Airport. Clean and comfortable. You won't go wrong by booking La Escala. We would definitely stay here again.

Friendliness and logistical competence
The accommodations were excellent and the staff was very friendly. Most of all, the owners were competent. As you'll probably be in Cusco as part of a trip to Machu Picchu, you'll want competence when it comes to the potentially difficult logistics of getting there and back. Nathgy is wonderfully good at these logistics.

Best Host in Cuzco
Great location! Neighborhood safe enough that my daughter, my mother and myself felt very comfortable walking around, even at night. Our host was Martin. He is very knowledgeable, helpful, and speaks English very well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & if we ever find ourselves in Cuzco again, we will definitely stay at La Escala. Highly recommended!
