Niu Barcelona

The hotel sits in a district that is not the most affluent area in Barcalona, with the area taking a strong influenced from the local migrant population. As such it might be considered by some to be less traditionally Spanish, but compensates with a rich cultural diversity which many will find just as interesting. And by being so central, you are no more than 30 mins walk from any of the mainstream sights and attractions. The hotel is clean, bright and comfortable - a perfect retreat from the busy Barca street life. The pool terrace is small but private with good shade from the sun. The team are welcoming and attentive, speak good English and will help with anything you need.

Could do with shelves in bedside cabinets. Bathroom light stays on for a long time. Other than that, the hotel was perfect, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast good. Pool shallow, 0.73 metres, but nice for a dip to cool off in the sun.

The hotel is in a great location, just round the corner from the Ramblas market. There are a variety of cafes and restaurants nearby too so lots of food options. We didn't try the restaurant at the hotel but we did have the buffet breakfast which was a great selection. The desk staff were really helpful with any enquiries, they spoke good English and they were extremely friendly and welcoming, They advised us on the public transport, and where the best places to visit are. Our room itself was pretty large, it had a wardrobe, TV, safe, double bed, table and chairs and a small balcony. The bathroom was lovely and the toiletries provided were great. The only issue we had with our stay was the cleanliness of the room. There was some dust and crumbs etc. that weren't brushed up during our whole stay and they didn't change the bedding once during our 5-night stay. Other than that we had a really good experience at Niu.

Lovely hotel, staff were great - friendly and helpful, room was nice and clean with a very comfortable bed, loved the rooftop terrace and pool where we spent some time chilling out..... Now, unfortunately for the negatives. Whilst these issues may not be the fault of the hotel I strongly believe that people should be aware of their surroundings: Can be very noisy at night. I’m not a light sleeper at all but the noise from the street kept us awake....a lot! The local area can feel a little intimidating and unsafe at night, groups of local youths and men hanging around and the narrow streets which you need to navigate through can leave you feeling a bit on edge. Like I say, this is not the fault of the hotel but worth being aware of if you are traveling solo or generally feel a bit vulnerable in these situations!! Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay and the location for getting around to places was really great!
