Xiufeng
Xiufeng District lets you slip behind Guilin's tourist curtain and into the rhythm of everyday Chinese life. Ancient city walls and Ming-Qing dynasty gates watch over tree-lined streets where locals practice tai chi at dawn. Wander through narrow cobblestone alleys, discover hidden courtyards, and snap photos of traditional architecture with distinctive upturned eaves. Family-run shops serve authentic Guilin rice noodles at budget-friendly prices in this walkable area. Simple guesthouses and converted courtyard homes offer intimate stays with genuine local hospitality. Most attractions are within easy walking distance, though public buses run every 20-30 minutes if you need them.

Guilin City Centre
Guilin City Centre captivates with its picture-perfect Li River views and dramatic limestone karst mountains. Traditional cormorant fishing boats glide by while ancient pagodas dot the skyline. The riverside promenades offer peaceful walking paths perfect for soaking in the natural beauty. Night markets light up after dark with lanterns casting warm glows over stone-paved streets. Dining options range from riverside restaurants serving famous Guilin rice noodles to street food stalls in buzzing night markets. Boutique hotels and traditional courtyard guesthouses provide comfortable places to rest. City buses connect major attractions, though the walkable waterfront district is best explored on foot.
Ten Mile Gallery
Ten Mile Gallery treats you to a front-row seat of nature's most spectacular show - dramatic limestone karst mountains jutting from the earth like something out of a fantasy novel. Bamboo rafts drift along the emerald waters of the Li River while traditional fishing villages dot the shoreline. Hikers and photographers flock to spots like Moon Hill and the Yulong River Scenic Area to capture those pinch-me-I'm-dreaming vistas. Local family-run guesthouses offer authentic stays with home-cooked meals featuring fresh river fish. Getting around means embracing the outdoors - rent bikes to explore or hop on a bamboo raft to see the landscape from water level. Morning mist creates magical photo ops before the day's adventure begins.

Qixing
Seven Star Park transforms Qixing into a natural wonderland where karst peaks pierce misty skies. Wander through ancient caves with dripping stalactites or follow emerald pathways past the distinctive Camel Hill. Buddhist temples nestled among bamboo groves create a mystical landscape where limestone giants meet manicured gardens. City buses connect Qixing to city centre Guilin, while restaurants near the park entrance serve regional Guangxi cuisine. Mid-range hotels and guesthouses offer great views of the dramatic landscape. The area's extensive trails and gardens make it perfect for travellers seeking natural beauty with a side of cultural significance.

Xiangshan
Guilin's cultural Xiangshan neighbourhood is loved for its gardens and waterfront, and visitors often enjoy its varied attractions, including Guangxi Guilin National Forest Park and 1001 Paradise.

YangShuo Percent Hotel
"Great food, great view good rooms. Great location very close to centre and right by the river."
Banyan Tree Yangshuo
"The room was spacious and amenities well presented. We enjoyed the lovely breakfast and evening treats were thoughtful. Staff was friendly and helpful. As expected, it was a very relaxing stay!"
Yangshuo Fairyland Hotel
"The staff at this hotel were amazing and couldn’t do enough for you. They have e-bikes which you can rent. One of the staff even came and found me when I got lost!! The property is about 7km from the town but very doable if you take the e-bikes and the hotel provides helmets. The pool is very instagrammable! The views were amazing. They also have local costumes available for dressing up in if that appeals. There are lots of high tech gizmos, including a Japanese style toilet, a movie screen that comes down from the roof and automated curtains. All can be controlled by voice commands (if you speak Chinese)! This was our favourite hotel and we’d love to go back."
The Dragon’s Rest Sanctuary - Yulong River Branch
"Top ! And Super staff"
Guilin O-LIVE Social Hotel
"Nice hotel to stay !"
Guilin Lijiang Waterfall Hotel
"Great place, if you book your activities through the activity desk you get transportation right from the hotel. For us there was no one else with us.(private driver)."
Li River Resort
"Li Resort was a welcome quiet respite near bustling Yangshuo. The friendly and accommodating full-service staff took care of all our logistics to/ from the train and the sites during our stay. They also made a good coffee! I truly enjoyed my morning yoga in the glass gym by the pool, looking out at the misty, karst geography. Our room was well-designed for families with kids. While we experienced many Instagram moments around the rice fields, the resort itself was our highlight from Yangshuo."
Shangri-La Guilin
"The staff are very friendly and suitable for families. However, the noise cancellation could be improved."
Holiday Inn Express Guilin City Center by IHG
"The hotel staffs are excellent and super kind. After checked out the hotel and I was on my to next city, I received a test message from the front desk staff and was told that I left a bag in the room I didn't even notice. They sent the bag to my next destination so I didn't need to worry about it. Unfortunately I didn't ask her name, but everyone works there deserved a hat off for the excellent job they've done."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Guilin
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Guilin is during January, November, and December, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For visitors looking to explore the city’s key landmarks and cultural attractions, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This duration offers great value for money, allowing time to enjoy the stunning mountains, picturesque rivers, and breathtaking scenery. Visitors can indulge in budget-friendly activities such as biking, sightseeing, boating, and even rafting in the beautiful countryside and charming small towns. With prices potentially dropping during these months, it’s a perfect opportunity for those travelling on a budget.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover enticing last-minute deals for hotels in Guilin, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute DealsOpens in a new window sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted rates as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications to stay informed about flash sales and exclusive promotions, which could help you save on your booking. Additionally, the Smart ShoppingOpens in a new window tool available in the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to find the best options. With these resources, you’ll be among the first to know if rooms become available or prices drop, making spontaneous getaways more attainable.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate depending on various factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so having some flexibility with your travel dates may help you find a better deal on your stay in a hotel in Guilin. For those seeking distinctive experiences, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised touch and, at times, better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative, more affordable dates to assist you in finding a more advantageous option.
- Consider your location: Hotels located near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Guilin's outstanding public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
