10/10 Exceptional

This place is a gem! Seamless check in and out, great atmosphere, quiet and comfortable rooms.
Michael, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Great location and very clean/comfortable. None of the outlets in the room would hold a plug in though (too loose) which was extremely frustrating.

The Alder Inn was close to the water and to many restaurants and shops in South Lake Tahoe. The Inn itself was very nice and the owners couldn't have been nicer or more concerned that our stay went well. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location, but aging property needs some love.

The mattress is so old that it has the imprint of the many previous bodies that have slept there . The room was very nice and clean .

A place close to Heavenly

This hotel has a great location and a friendly staff. There is a clear theme of being "Thoughtful" of guests and effort to provide amenities. The check in process is physical keyless and no contact so make sure you confirm your reservation and payments in advance when possible. There is a 24/7 number to call if any issues, but I wouldn't expect many issues doing the prior. Enjoy your stay

Clean and comfy

Family trip for three days. Hotel was clean and comfortable. They had fans in the room but are putting AC units which will make it even better. Loved the little patio setup and yard games. The rooms has fridges, microwave, and a Keurig which was great. Only request would be able to stream on the TV. Thanks for the stay!

2/10 Poor

Dirty rooms , shower curtain has mold on unit 10. Unit. 19 sheets were dirty. Outside was dirty and nobody was in the office. Only a gentleman names manny calls you. I never stayed here and was not able to reach the manager they just told me he is on vacation . I’m awaiting my refund since I never stayed here and still no answer.
Adrian, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Alder Inn is super clean and a block off the main road. Room was clean with a full size Keurig, mini fridge and glasswear for wine or an evening highball. The rooms will get noisy with someone above you or next to you but its an old motor lodge and to be expected. No desk in the room for working which meant I had to spend a couple hours working at a local tap room. Damn!

One nighter in Winter

Booked 1 night to stay near South Lake. The checkin process was very quick and easy. I had a minor issue completing the checkin using my phone and called the office and staff was very helpful and available to assist. I appreciate their kind support. The room was a bit old but that did not bother me too much. Bed was comfy and clean. We did notice dust on top of the ceiling fan. I had minor allergies in the morning, possibly due to the dust. It can get a bit noisy too with people parking and walking outside and infront of the door but noise was manageable. The price we paid was somewhat high but we went during peak season. We did notice the price going up significantly higher.

2/10 Poor

We couldn’t stay here for the night due to the quality of our room and the property being dirty, neglected, and dilapidated. The only reason we booked this hotel (motel) was due to its good reviews and hot tub. However, when we arrived, our room was completely outdated and dirty. The trim was chipped and cracked, the walls were stained, and the bathroom stripping was covered in cigarette stains. When we used the sink, it backed up and chunks of unknown material came out. After the outdated gas furnace heater made a loud and weird noise, we make an executive decision to ditch. Additionally, the hot tub and pool were completely neglected. It looks like they’ve been out of service since the last big snow due to the large weeds growing everywhere. I was really looking forward to this place. The pictures and reviews make it look like a lovely, quaint spot close to the beach. We wary of many of the reviews… I’m sure some of them are fake.
Taven, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

It’s a fancy motel. The rooms are much nicer than a typical motel but the size and exterior feel like a motel. Our room was nice quiet and warm but also had a few minor problems. The toilet has flushing issues due to very old interior works. The water would either stay on or never go on. We had to manually move the interval floater. The sink is also very slow and took a long time to drain. Some of the plugs are very loose and things fall out or don’t stay plugged in. Other sockets are fine Finally, none of the snow and ice was cleared from the parking lot so it was very slippery to walk. Seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Kevin, 1-night trip

Hotel hotel for short people

There was no service. Access by code to your phone. TV did not work. Bed and hotel made for small people. Not very comfortable.
Damon, 1-night trip

Amazing hotel, comfy room, welcoming environment, fun facilities
Zesen, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

Shower water kept changing during shower from luke warm to cold. while sink water stayed hot. Bed was hard as a rock. Floor was dusty. Towel rack unusable not attached to wall. Sawing and hammering started 8:30 am next to our room #1. was told workers won't get there until 9am.
Marc, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

It seems the motel was recently acquired from remote owners. The room we stayed in was not good at all. Most modern motels have AC so you expect it. This motel only has small AC units in the upstairs units. Our room was hot, sink did not drain, the cheap fans they give you are loud. They leave the lights on all night and the shades are trash so you have light in your room all night. I would avoid. Ballys has great rooms.
