Great large bedroom with retreat, property location and hosts. We felt very comfortable during our stay. Enjoyed the daily breakfast, drinks and charcuterie during the afternoon. We visited the nearby waterfalls and hiking during the day.

Perfect stay
This was an excellent place to stay. I happened to become sick just before we arrived, so spent all my time in the room and was very comfortable the entire time. It helped that I had a view of the mountains from the bed. Clean, comfortable, spacious. Tea kettle. It was everything I needed. The breakfast, which I could finally eat on the last day, was superb -- local foods, home-baked breakfast cakes, good coffee and tea.

Lion D’or is a very VERY charming hotel in a great location across the street from the thermal spas and extremely close to everything in Cauterets. Toma, his aunt and mother run a lovely gem of a hotel and our stay there was perfect!

Quaint hotel
This is a quaint hotel close to a lot of restaurants and shops. We were there in June, so it was off season. Lots of places were closed but the hotel itself was great!

Our second stay here. Small but well appointed room with excellent shower. Smeg fridge and kettle plus capsule coffee machine. Hospitable host and traditional French cooking at dinner. Great location in heart of the town and close to cable car.

Tres bon
Loved my stay in this classic alpine inn. The manager is very friendly and helpful and speaks English. Good location for alpine activities. Close drive to Pyrenees trail heads, but still able to stay in a small village with multiple food options. Free parking in the town lot up the hill. Get the code or use the buzzer at the back door if you will be out later or arriving late.

Enjoyed the overall experience
This hotel served the best breakfast of all the 7 hotels and bnbs we stayed at this trip to France. The price was very reasonable for the quality and variety of the home made food. We nearly had a croisant every day of our entire 3 weeks and this hotel had the best! We loved the location, right in town, yet quiet. We could open our large window and get lots of fresh air. The room is small but adequate. The only thing I would mention would be to make the two chairs around small table in room be more comfortable. This was true of every place we stayed that there were not very comfortabble chairs to sit in. The outside area was very charming, but due to weather and other activities we did not use. Thomas speaks English and was very helpful. This is no reflection on the hotel, but perhaps later in June would be a better time to visit, as many of the restaurants and stores were closed. However, the plus is that it not crowded with tourist. Even the spa was closed, which was a disappointment. Yet, we enjoyed our hikes (bring rain gear) and our stay and Cauteretts and this hotel remain one of the few places we would repeat!

A short break in the Pyrenees July 2017
If you are visiting this part of France I can really recommend staying at the Hotel Le Lion D'Or. Family run 18thCentury small hotel which has been very sympathetically renovated - very comfortable, very clean, very friendly and helpful and very central. Beautiful patio terrace for pre-dinner drinks - evening meal recommended - very french and very tasty. We loved it, just wished we had booked a longer stay.

Great in all respects
Wonderful hotel, family run, been in the family for 4 generations. Such a wonderful homey feel. Not only is the breakfast spread terrific, but the dinner we had there was the best dinner of our entire 2 week vacation in Spain, Portugal, and France.
