The small things that let it down
We booked 2 bookings at this hotel, and we had similar experiences. The rooms were comfortable, but the one room we had had aview to a brick wall... was not very appealing. Small details were what let this hotel down.. - netflix didnt connect - you go to the bar and the cocktail you order off the menu is not available - you call to order room service, the one meal you chose is not available - you enter your room, no body wash in the bottles - no tissues in the tissue holder A few examples of how this hotel lets itself down. The hotel is undergoing a renovation,so alot of workers in the area which was annoying, but understandable. In full, i would not stay at this hotel again, or any GHL hotel...poor experiences with them travelling in Colombia - definitely not a 5 star as they claim!

Not what I expected
I expected a nicer hotel for the reviews . The breakfast was awful. The lobby was under construction and dusty. They don’t allow friends to visit you past the lobby area. The room had a broken lock at the window. I will rate it a 3!. The staff is pleasant but I will not stay here again. The bed was clean and the room was large. The location is great also and safe.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The location is excellent although there are some rougher areas nearby. Staff was wonderful, especially the bell staff and the bar staff. Restaurant can get overwhelmed during breakfast when the hotel is full, otherwise I enjoyed the food. Would definitely return!

I stayed at GHL Arsenal Hotel in Cartagena to celebrate my cousin's 37th birthday, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From arrival to departure, the hospitality was superb, thanks in particular to Alfonso, who went above and beyond to make our trip memorable.My cousin wanted to get her hair braided at a local salon, and Alfonso expressed concern about the area. He arranged for a trusted person to safely take us there and back. He treated us like family, ensuring we felt safe and cared for throughout our stay.While my cousin was out, Alfonso helped us find decorations to surprise her when she returned. Not only did he direct us to the right shop, but he personally walked us there! Later, the hotel also delivered a small birthday cake to her room, which was a wonderful surprise.On the morning of my cousin's birthday, the staff surprised us again by singing "Happy Birthday" as she came down from her room—a beautiful and unexpected gesture that made the celebration even more special.The hotel was very accommodating when we had to check out early for an excursion but had a late flight. They let us use the pool area to freshen up, which we greatly appreciated.Breakfast was amazing with a variety of fresh fruits, tortillas, chicken, and attentive staff. And the rooftop infinity pool with stunning views of Cartagena was the perfect way to unwind. I can’t wait to return!
