Shopping in Khao San

When shopping in Khaosan Road, the so-called “centre of the backpackers' universe”, you’re spoilt for choices of items which can often be both fun and tacky. Along the main Khaosan strip and throughout the length of streets either side, you’ll stroll past the ubiquitous travel shop where you can book a tour of Bangkok and even beyond – often alongside snacks, souvenirs, shirts and shorts.

With it are the rows and rows of shops and stalls ranging from local bookstores where you can pick up a pre-owned novel like The Beach and flip the pages to look for the reference on Khaosan, just for fun. Of course, all the things you’ll need are within easy reach, be it Wi-Fi, medicine, cold drinks and money changers.
