DoubleTree by Hilton Williamsburg
Great stay
Our stay was very nice. The Hampton is super clean and smells fresh. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bathroom was a bit small, but the room was very spacious and comfortable. We would highly recommend this hotel and we would stay here again in the future.

Not happy.
Bed was hard, bathroom was small, A/C had a knocking sound and bathroom door was hard to shut. This site didn’t disclose the shuttle fee. We paid a lot for the room just for that service and had to pay for it on top of the room charge. Domestic disturbance outside of room lasted for 3 hours in the middle of the night. They should have moved the situation away from the hallway. Called and complained and was told police were coming back...only to hear a man yelling “hey cop. I see you cop”. Over and over....he was screaming about his wife being taken away. Later a woman showed up screaming obscenities and was complaining about a woman being naked. Im sure I wasn’t the only one effected by this event. Was compensated by a round trip shuttle ride. I barely slept and was rather annoyed with the whole situation. Place was over priced. 176 a the cost of the shuttle?!? We only booked it because of the shuttle. Since it was wine festival, we figured it would be safer to do so. Should have used Uber.

Overall pleasant stay
Comfortable hotel located near Busch Gardens. Staff was cordial not necessarily friendly (no small talk minimal eye contact...) The room & bathroom were comfortably sized for 3 people and it was generally quiet even being located by the elevators. We stayed just one night and would consider returning if there is need to do so. There was a Starbucks and a handful of restaurants within walking distance as well.

Check-in Nightmare
I will start by saying that the trip ended on a good note, and as they all is well that ends well. The trip began like a nightmare. I reserved a double queen and sofa bed for 2 nights and paid up front. I arrive at the hotel to be told that they have overbooked and not only given away my room, but there are no available rooms in the hotel. I am give this information after waiting approx 15 mins, and I still had to ask or else I probably would have been waiting for twice as long. I was told I would have a resolution in 5 mins and the situation wasn't resolved until approx 30 mins later. They ended up paying for one night at the Residence Inn about 15 minutes away. The room was a king with sofa which wasnt what we had at the DT, but it met our needs. We then had to check out, go back to the RI and check in with them. Luckily this time they had a room for us. Ultimately I don't what resulted in their gaffe, but it definitely left a bad impression on us. On the plus side, the rooms were nice and clean. The lobby, dining options and amenities were quality, and the location was a big plus (approx 5 mins from Busch Garden).

I was disappointed that the room was rather shabby. Bathroom was only so-so clean, the refrigerator emitted a high pitch whine so that we had to unplug it, and the thermostat didn’t really work. The beds were comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the downstairs facilities were quite nice—the fitness center was first-rate and the restaurant food was tasty. Just wish they paid better attention to the rooms.
