The young lady at the desk on Feb. 18 was helpful and professional. Your property is different and delightful.

Clean and quiet property in old warehouse section close to V&A waterfront area. Not a great view out the front but this place has character and not your average modern hotel layout but shabby chic with a bit of funk. Great breakfasts and Giorgio restaurant downstairs in courtyard for dinner. Reasonably priced for location!

Enjoyed the daily breakfast and walking to the V&A only took 10-15 minutes so very convenient. Hotel was clean and spacious. One thing to mention was you can hear water pipes when showering which did not bother us one bit.

Great hotel and staff Good location , but not great 15 min walk to VandA Told not to do it at night even if only 15mins! Apart from that good hotel The bed in room 2 is horrendous with the mattress needing changed many years ago. We moved room which was good Good breakfast and parking A few shops just around the corner and also a15 min walk to City Centre

Good Hotel for some days, V&A Waterfront 15 min to walk. No buffet for breakfast. Some firealarms without reason, even in the night.

What an awesome hotel!

This place was quite the pleasant surprise! Nestled just on the edge of the wharf district, the Old Foundry hotel was clean and welcoming with just a touch of a modern, yet 1930’s feel. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and the walk-in rain shower was amazing. But the best part of this hotel is the staff and the cafe. The staff waited on us hand and foot, and even remembered our breakfast orders from the previous days. Anything we needed and they were on top of it immediately. As for the cafe, the food was incredible. We were especially fans of the French toast and the BLT, both of which were probably the best we’ve ever had. You won’t regret picking the place. A quick 10 minute walk to the water front, or about $4 USD Uber ride.
Jamie Rene, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

I love the atmosphere of this place! I felt extremely inside the hotel, however bc of homeless people outside the perimeter we weren’t allowed to walk anywhere, which is the case for most of the city. Too bad since it’s only a 5 min walk to waterfront but Uber was easy and cheap. The food at the bar was fantastic and all the staff were very accommodating and pleasant. The water heater/pump is very loud. Overall this is a great place and I would return back.
Amanda, 4-night trip

6/10 Good

We came for our honeymoon and had an amazing time. We expected the “presidential” room to be much better than it was. The floors have horrible water damage and you have to leave the windows open at night to escape the smell of mold. The property did not have all of the amenities it listed, such as the golf. And you had to ask for new towels if you wanted them. The staff was nice and it was a 15 min walk to the v and a. Just hoped this would be a nice facility than it was.

I requested, several times for regular coffee instead of decaf but the request was never fulfilled.

2/10 Poor

Not advisable to stay here

There is a homeless camp apposite the hotel, the people from there would approach and badger us. Made us feel very scared. Hotel states they have a lift, but technicall that is not true, there is no lift in the lobby. One must leave the hotel, walk around it and enter the adjacent building and ask them to open their lift for you which then does stop on some hotel floors. We booked a room with kitchen, but there was zero kitchen equipment. Reception said they will lend us some one request. No support offered by the hotel or the Hotels.com team, only a £10 voucher as a goodwill gesture for the trauma.
4-night trip

2/10 Poor

Avoid

We booked this hotel as it looked like a lovely place to stay but very quickly it was apparent it was lacking. Our shower in our room leaked all over the floor due to there being no sealant. It was clear this was an ongoing issue as the wooden floor outside was all puckered and nailed down. Staff were not overly helpful about it. There were cockroaches in the room, including on the kitchen surfaces. What they don’t tell you when booking is this hotel is next to a busy road and underneath it is a homeless camp which you have to walk past to enter the hotel before 7pm. After 7pm this entrance is closed and you have to walk through a multi-storey car park to enter the hotel. This hotel is clearly all design and no substance, very little care or helpfulness from the staff.
3-night trip

4/10 Fair

When we arrived we were expecting a King or Twin Bed set-up but found a small double, apparently Expedia misrepresent the bed size for a luxury room, so watch out!! Though the property is in a beautiful converted warehouse and is a working concept of hotel and working space, it doesn't fully operate as a functioning hotel. A bit style over substance, open shower into the bedroom (not great when sharing with a friend), sink doesn't have anywhere to put handsoap or toothbrush instead constantly leaning over the toilet!! Difficult to get hold of additional towels, ladies ask way in advance of a shower, also don't be freaked out by the very noisy plumbing system, not just your room but others too!! Location is great for getting to the waterfront and also mooching to the restaurants in the cape quarter. Overall bit style over substance at the moment, if service standards increased would consider heading back as location is a winner. To note be prepared for post 7pm access through back street car park, defo not safe feeling during load shedding!

Just not very good

Utterly confusing hotel. Breakfast (which was very nice but didn’t open as early as stated, which was problematic as we like many others had early appointments) served at a nearby restaurant. Three different entrances that closed at different time points in the evening snd we got no info on this upon or before our late night arrival. Electricity was out for 10 hours, which happens in Cape Town, but during this time the toilets cannot be used(!) which noone informed about. They hence flooded I guess everywhere and from some rooms even out in the hallway, soaking the thick carpet, so it reaked of sewege for the rest of our stay. Our shower drain was blocked (even when the electricity was working) so water flooded the whole bathroom. We told the staff on 4 separate occasions but nothing happened. It looks nice on the picture but is in less good condition.

The hotel and the staff were amazing, so cool interior in an old foundry! The room was comfortable and the staff super nice and helpful. The location is very close to the waterfront and easy to access by foot and cab
