2-3 star at best but you get what you pay for….. I suspect the ‘4 star’ is on account of the spa which seemed remarkably empty; also remarkably empty was the room - two small single beds with plastic mattress covers, a big space between bed an window with not even a desk chair. Absolutely no seat for the desk/mirror which seemed odd. Tea facilities sponsored by ‘Tetley’ - branded cups and tiny kettle. I say ‘facilities’ as there was no actual tea - or milk. We arrived 9.30pm so I rang down to be told we could have some teabags the following day and the hotel doesn’t have milk…. Seriously?? Not seriously as the breakfast buffet had milk for cereal but… speaking of breakfast buffet, that was actually rather good.
Friday and Saturday live entertainment in the very brightly lit bar- Friday dreadful, Saturday very good; the bar itself has a choice of one white wine which although not bad seems a little restrictive. Bar staff very good as were all staff encountered with the exception of reception other than one chap of larger frame with glasses.
No ‘gold status’ perks given, I had to show the listing to get the complimentary bottle of house (only) wine and that took 24. hours to arrive. Forget room upgrades, I don’t think the hotel take any notice at all/are even aware of member Hotels.com benefits. Finally, pool was freezing.
