Incredible! Room did smell fainltly of cigarettes.
Just amazing. The only problem was that even though smoking is not allowed, the room did smell slightly of very old cigarette smoke. I just kept the window a bit for fresh air and the smell went away. The room was a 4th floor walkup, w/ narrow steep high stairs. Real wood floors, high ceilings, very old, gorgeous, awesome. Person who worked there so helpful when I needed help with a few things, immediately came up to help. Great neighborhood. Nice kitchens+bathroom w/ hot shower. So impressed! Thank you so much!

Private Studio Room
The room was very nicely decorated and a lot larger than we anticipated! For a hostel, we were impressed by the security codes specific to each guest for both the front door and your private room door. I will say there was a random sock when we entered our room, which made me question whether the room had been cleaned, but sheets and towels seemed clean to us! The kitchens were very nice and equipped with everything you may need. Our only qualm was that the restroom on our floor (5th) seemed to have a malfunctioning toilet. Remnants were often visible it the toilet bowl so we had to go to the fourth floor to use the restroom. Overall, for the price in NYC, a very comfortable and convenient location. There was a mix of perfumey/smoke smells, as to be expected when sharing common areas. As someone who has stayed in many hostels, I do think majority of the negative reviews were people expecting hotel like conditions. For a hostel, I would say this place is nice.

This property is close to Penn Station, which was important for my trip. There are several restaurants and convenience stores in the area. The rooms are plain but functional. Our stay was not good at all. We had to wait for more than 30 minutes to do the check in and then the staff had issues with the payment terminal. Furthermore, the whole building smells like weed. Restrooms were decently cleaned and the room was very small.
