I frantically found Ewa Hotel Waikiki after my Marriott (Bonvoy) resort hotel notified me that it was not able to accommodate my booking due to popular demand, two weeks prior to the Honolulu Marathon. I had booked it three months in advance! Chose Ewa Hotel Waikiki for convenient location to the Honolulu Marathon (and my runner) and beach, Aqua/Aston value and decent parking options. The property is old and maintained but could use improvement. It is on a side street on Diamond Head/zoo end of Waikiki. Away from crowds and traffic. Tracy at the front desk & maintenance worker were very nice!
I originally booked a studio kitchenette with balcony. After I checked into the room on the third floor, I couldn’t handle the room odor and smoking from the street. It was definitely not good for me and my allergies. Fortunately, a one-bedroom suite with kitchenette on the seventh floor, second to top floor, was available. It was completed with amenities, comfortable beds, fresh linens and cool tradewinds from an open balcony. Saved our stay! But I paid an additional upgraded charge.
