The hotel itself was perfectly fine. Rooms were clean, it's in a decent location and parking was right outside, if a little limited.
My problem with this hotel was the staff and management. When we arrived, we had just found out we needed to cancel the last of the three nights we had booked, We were told that we needed to do that on Hotels.com. So I contacted Hotels.com only to be told that this wasn't the case and hotels.com would contact the hotel on our behalf to cancel the last night. Then the following day I received an email saying that the hotel management had refused this request without giving a reason. Considering that I had made the booking on the basis of being able to cancel the whole thing right up to the day of check-in, I found this to be unreasonable.
In addition, the next evening we had to carry out some technical engineering and the bar was the only place to do this. We did buy some beer as we did so, and the barman was fine, but then a man I assume to be the night manager turned up and then complained to us rather than attempting to find out what we were doing and dealing with it in a professional manner. He also asked us to move our vehicle to a different spot and stood and watched us whilst we rearranged our boot space ready for the next day.
Overall, the attitude of staff throughout the hotel was not to the standard I would expect, particularly with the refusal to cancel the final night. As a result, we won't be staying there again.
