Be very careful with this place. The owner works in conjunction with unofficial “guides” who take you to the medina and make hefty commissions on overpriced artisan items.
The Riad itself, while aesthetically pleasing on first glance, is severely run down. It smells of mold, is full of huge roaches and has a lot of cosmetic damage and disrepair.
Their website advertises a 60 euro massage and hamman as well as childcare. Upon my appointment I learned that there is no childcare and was charged 70 euro (mind you my children were in the room throughout treatment, not exactly the relaxing hour I had planned). The “massage therapist” is not trained and lacks understanding of human anatomy or basic massage technique.
The icing on the cake happened after checkout. I prepaid for my 3 night stay over $319. I paid my overcharged 70 euro roach infested spa experience, I requested and paid my final bill after breakfast of over $75 (and conveniently their credit card machine was not working, welcome to Fes). I used her driver to depart. She had the driver pull over on the side of the road with 2 other men and hold my children and I hostage for 40 minutes until she arrived demanding money she claimed I owed her. They would not let us go until I paid her a lousy $30. Her driver then demanded our U.S. passports at which point things took a bigger turn for the worse. I have a case filed against all the people involved including the Riad owner who orchestrated the event. Dangerous people.
