15 Aug 2026It depends what you want and expect. It’s the most phenomenal property and atmosphere. It’s a memorable experience which we will not forget. It’s important to support these places as they are crumbling. I cannot imagine the upkeep to maintain this building and its surrounds and we did not expect perfection! Our room itself was very clean and completely clear of bugs or bats. However; there were bats flying everywhere indoors and outdoors. They are flying up and down the corridor and over your head whilst you eat - we didn’t get bitten by mosquitos so that was a plus but it was crazy. I guess they cannot do anything about this as they’re protected. The bathroom was functional and clean but very old. This chateau is in need of repair, be aware of this. I imagine staying here helps support the upkeep of a very ancient, impressive, and somewhat dilapidated building.
