Kokumin Shukusya Shodoshima

Kokumin Shukusya Shodoshima

"Let me start by saying if you’re looking for a high-end luxury resort this property is not it. The room was rather Spartan and the bathing facilities are shared and public (as in public to the hotel). That said the staff, even with their marginal language skills were amazingly accommodating, and the view from the top of the hill that this hotel sits on is unparalleled! It was a beautiful location in an amazing place that gave us tremendous opportunity to explore the entire area."

Grand Mercure Awaji Island Resort & Spa

Grand Mercure Awaji Island Resort & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"This is a moderately priced all inclusive type resort with good views that is very popular with Japanese families with young children. Most people drive. The half board option is good because you get great breakfast and dinner buffets. I was reminded of the buffets in Las Vegas. The food is a big selection of Awaji specialties, Japanese food, and many international dishes, as well as beer and other drinks. This is a very crowded hotel. Line queue registration is used to manage entry to the buffet area. This is not a secluded, quiet resort. The spacious onsen includes a big outdoor bath and a big relaxation area with drinks. The onsen staff manages it very well. The main attraction in this area is the Naruto whirlpools. Public transportation is limited to buses. So you come here for the hotel and the whirlpools."

Dormy Inn Takamatsuchuokoenmae Natural Hot Spring

10/10 Excellent
"Would definitely go again! I'm so happy I read through the reviews before staying here. Good tips I read that are helpful, is that there are multiple Dormy Inn's in the city, so remember to go to the Central Park one! You can take a bus down the main street, or do a 20 minute walk from the station. I ended up using the bus for when I had my heavy luggage. Also, the inn really does provide free ramen at night, and ice cream in the area by the hot springs! The rooms are especially clean and comfortable, with mini-fridge and other amenities. I only stayed one night for an event, but wish I stayed longer as the Pokemon store, shopping, and lots of delicious restaurants were nearby that I wanted to try as well!"

"Efficient check in. Allowed us to store our luggage before check in as we arrived earlier than planned. Room on the small side (for a double) but well maintained with limited storage space. Breakfast had good variety of dishes. Very good location on quiet side street, walking distance from the local train station and Ritsurin Garden. Close to many restaurants and shops."

  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a more economical stay in a Shodoshima hotel. For those in search of distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. Should the price be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could lead to a more favourable rate.
  4. Consider your location: Opting to stay near key attractions or city centres can provide convenience, but it typically comes with a higher price tag. For more affordable options, you might consider hotels in less central areas or neighbourhoods, allowing you to balance cost with ease of access to your intended destinations. You may also wish to explore independent hotels situated a bit further out, as these are usually more likely to be affordable and can offer a more authentic experience.
