One thing let it down
Beautiful hotel, lots of lovely orginal features, Lovely large room, robes and slippers, perfect location very close to station and shopping. The bed was very comfy, pillows very thin, would have asked for more but it was a little late so just wanted to get our heads down.
We had breakfast which was fine, the room where it was served lacked atmosphere and felt a little akward as we ate in silence. Some quiet background music would have helped this.
Some noise in our room but to be expected on a city centre break. We must have been facing a bar at the back of the hotel as we heard bottles and some music until very late but didnt spoil our stay.
I would have given more stars if it wasnt for the fact we were asked to pay a £50 holding charge when we checked in. This is not unusual and I didnt question at the time. The money came straight out of my bank which wasnt convenient on a weekend shopping trip. We are now over a week since our stay and the funds still not have been returned. I have contacted my bank who confirmed that this type of transaction can take upto 30 days to be paid back by the vendor. I must say this has tainted our stay and I would probably think twice about booking again, such a shame when we had already paid for our hotel in full via the app.
