Very frustrating experience
Terrible experience, room is dirty and cold, booked two room for 4 nights. Stayed for the first night and decided to switch to another hotel. Hotel receptionist was hard to work with. The hotel informed me that i will only be charged for night we stayed and refund the remaining 3 nights. I called hotel.com multiple times and i was told i will not be refunded because they can not get hold of the hotel approver. Very frustrating, this will be my last time using hotels.com

Mediocre but friendly and comfortable
Uthis hotel is in a fantastic location in a hutong although your taxi will have trouble finding it, it is on a one way street at the end of Wongfujing. The staff are very friendly and helpful but as we booked at the great price on hotels.com they put us in an inside room, not a room with a balcony, they wanted us to pay more for a window but once they realized our booking included an outside room they gave us one. Negatives: walls are thin & cig smoke was coming into the first room, They didn't change the sheets in 4 days despite a request and they don't wash mugs or glasses. No breakfast ever but beds aren't too hard.

Cute But Uncomfortable
This hotel was well-decorated and had big rooms, but uncomfortable. There were bed bugs, the carpet was dusty, the internet bad, the water cold, and not convenient.

Very very very hard to find!!!
The hotel is located in walking distance to main attraction but in other hand nobody knows the hotel address! We had hotel staff to write in Chinese the hotel location, the closest intersection, the closest big hotel but still we had such a hard time to get there because taxi drivers don't know where it is! We been trying to get a taxi for 20-30 min and every taxi refuse and shake their heads that they never heard of it! Pros; hotel staff is nice and helpful. Cons; rooms can be cold and some of the staff smoke cigarettes in reception area and leave nasty ashtray full of smelly cigarette butts! Non oriental breakfast start at 9 am. Internet is horrible, it keep dropping off and then just don't work at all! Oh yes, they charge you 100 yuan deposit and suppose to return when you check out but you need to remind them about it!

Cheap and Nice location
The hotel is not far from center, with good transport linked. But the shower is really not nice, water is cold and take like 5 minutes to be warmed up. Poor sound insulation, hear a lot of noise in the morning....can't sleep well after 7am........

Good Location! Affordable Price!
The hotel is an authentic cultural experience in a very convenient location. The price is reasonable, but keep in mind it is a 2.5-3 star establishment. The rooms are clean and adequate, but we experienced a minor water leak in the bathroom. We also changed rooms because the first room was affected by noise from a neighbouring building. The beds are very firm. The staff don't speak much English, but worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. The location is very, very convenient; just a 1 minute walk to a bus-stop and a short trip to the main attractions.

Great for price
For the price you get excellent service. It is very close to main atractions and you can easily go by public transport. Staff is very friendly and make their best to help you. Considering how little English people in China speak there was always at least one person able to help at the basic needs. I would recomend to ask for the Chinese name of the hotel to have it at hand to instruct the taxi.

Well Located But Hit or Miss Rooms
The hotel in very well located, but some rooms are dirtier than others. We got a smoking room and the floor was dirty and it looks like people put out cigarettes on the floor. So if you can, ask for a non-smoking room. Otherwise the staff was nice and everything was pretty close.

ok but not great
Pros nice looking hotel foyer very friendly and helpful staff close to fantastic noodle house and mini marts, semi ok distance to subway - still a little bit of walk room was clean - however carpets had been washed by hand - so were very wet to touch and left damp dog like smell cons we opted for the cheapest room, which had no windows - our advice - do NOT pick this room, damp, smelly air, no air flow, room has air con - but was automatically set to fan only, room temp was VERY hot and humid, due to the location of the room in the middle of the hotel there was a corridor at the front and back of the room so it was EXTREMELY noisy due to being surrounded by completely surrounded by other rooms NOT SMOKE FREE in any way shape or form, in fact quite the opposite so the smell of cigarette smoke is constant **note: you get what you pay for and these rooms are cheap and a bit nasty, the other rooms with windows looked and smelt much better - however were more expesensive

Toilet Trauma
There's nothing quite like arriving after a 16-hour trip to find your toilet overflow upon first flush. This, combined with a shower that did not drain made my first, crucial night a (dirty) watery mess. The last two days we had no hot water either. The staff did try to remedy the problem numerous times, but without any apology or offer to change my room or amend my bill, etc. The staff spoke virtually no English, and did not respond very well to my Chinese either. Generally, the place was run-down, hard for taxi drivers to find, but on the upside the location was pretty central (if not prominent), and the price was unbeatable. I think it serves as an hourly rate "intimacy" hotel (there was a choice of products for sale in the room, and an hourly rate posted, as well as a call girl's calling card slipped under my door the first night). It's fair to say you get what you pay for.

A Pleasant Stay
We've have stayed in this hotel for 6 nights during our business trip to Beijing. The first night we arrived in the middle of the night, getting a taxi to send us to the hotel was the toughest job. Even if there's a taxi around, with the google map of the hotel location, they still gave me "difficult to find the place" as an excuse not to send us. Luckily in the end we managed to meet a kind-hearted taxi driver to send us to the hotel. The location of the hotel is actually NOT difficult to find at all. All you have to tell the taxi driver is the main road name "Mei Shu Guan Hou Jie" (美术馆后街)then you can walk into the hotel street and reach hotel in just 2 mins from the main road. Behind the hotel was a street of local stores where you can meet a lot of kind folks. Besides, the streets are almost all connected. We were just wandering around in the streets and then we bumped into Wang Fu Jing Street and JingShan Park! The hotel staff are nice and quite helpful. But you have to get used to the attitude of China people, they just don't get used to smile when talking to you.

About what you'd expect
Staff was courteous and helpful within the limits of their English skills. Neighborhood is a little run down, but you can walk to the interesting parts of Beijing. Nothing great, nothing horrible

nice bakery across the road!
The hotel was good, but I found the courtyard garden very disappointing. The buffet breakfast wasn't actually a buffet. The staff that could speak english there were amazingly helpful and made the stay much more pleasant. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were good.

Terrible service and hotel
Terrible service. Rooms smelled like smoke carpets were filthy sink totally clogged up and air conditioning doesn't work. Not so good location. The staff very rude and will keep your deposit for no good reason and charge you 3$ to call for a taxi. I would definantly not reccomend this hotel. Ravi CAanada

fantastic service
no one spoke english except for one lady, Jenny, during the day shift. she had perfect english and will help you with anything you need. the night manager was also very helpful, and worked with me through my bad chinese to help us with many things. i came back late one night and tried to ask where a massage place is..... but didnt fully understand his directions. so, he walked me the whole three blocks to the massage place! when it was time to check out, he also negotiated the cab fare with the taxi driver for me. excellent service. also, the decor was just so cute! when you first walk in there are wooden lanterns hanging from the ceiling... the red tassels give a cool effect. food in the hotel restaurant is very cheap and good. the surrounding neighborhood is a clean and vibrant hutong, feel free to walk around and check out the local restaurants. will definitely stay here again. oh, i will also note that the beds are "hard" by western standards, but completely normal for a chinese hotel or home. it is actually better for your back and i had no problems the next morning.

Clean, inexpensive hotel near city center
Hard to find, but we had the address written in Chinese courtesy of Information people at the airport. Jae spoke pretty good English--very helpful showing us how to use the AC and internet. Location is on a narrow street near many local street vendors and restaurants who do not cater to English speakers, but very friendly, the food delicious. Store nearby, bus system is typically hard for an American to figure out, but with enough instructions, doable. Very good quality for the price. My wife and I both enjoyed our time there.

Good Location
The location is excellent, you may reach the famous tourism area in a very close distance. Do not have high expectation to condition of the hotel, overall it is still in good maintenance.

The location, service and decor of the place was great. One of the best deal, considering the price. I liked the traditional chinese style decor and made this place unique. Apart from the bed which were a little hard, I thought this place was great. Not sure if the location was the greatest, but it is close to may attractions.
