The room was super clean, spacious and the bed was comfy. Our host was nice and welcoming.
The location is awesome, sale, clean, near shops and coffee but also, only 2 streets from the Santa Monica beach!
Without any doubts we advise you The Sovereign!

20 May 2026As someone who travels 30 weeks a year for work, I can honestly say this was the best experience I have had in years. Easy check in, amazing property and room, location 10/10. I want to move in here. Perfect for work or vacation. Fast internet, full kitchen, a block from the beach, 3 blocks to Promenade. Can’t say enough good things.

26 May 2026Excellent location in Santa Monica. Realize when you book this is not a typical hotel. No service in room entire time you are there. No A/C although overhead fans work well. Full kitchen a plus if you need/ want that. Lovely gardens to sit in behind gated area.

I would live there if I could 😂 Behind a gated door entrance there is a courtyard with pretty flower beds (flowers also outside the property on the sidewalk). The foyer is tastefully decorated and welcoming. I had a junior suite...more of a studio apartment. All the furniture complimented the style of the area and was colour coordinated. Fully kitted kitchen with cutlery, crockery and cookware provided. Coffee machine with complimentary pods/creamers. Bathroom had a shower and full bath. Separate vanity area with sink, drawers, sockets and counter top. Which I managed to fill with all my bits and pieces! Very homely. Lounge area with wall mounted TV and a sofa for chilling after a busy day. Plenty of storage space for clothes and toiletries. The studio was immaculate. I only had an issue with one thing due to a communication error and the manager went out of her way to be helpful 🙏
Very quiet and safe location to walk (as a solo female traveller). A few blocks from the beach, pier and Santa Monica shopping mall. I would recommend Palisades park for beautiful sunset views out at the sea. Easy 5-10min walk. Easy walk to bus stops/metro to go into LA. I will defo return to The Sovereign!

5 Aug 2026Everything was great. The room was super clean. The bed was excellent. The sheets were excellent. It was great that there was a little kitchenette. The Wi-Fi was great. The TV was great. The only thing that I have to complain about is that there was no air-conditioning and it was pretty hot. I’m sure it was listed somewhere in the room listing, but it’s not really even something that I think about checking. I think that if a room costs more than $200 a night and it’s in LA it’s gonna have air-conditioning. Again, I take responsibility for this, but it is a downside to this property. Probably 80% of the year it doesn’t even matter. I would absolutely stay here again, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. Just be aware of that.

10 Jul 2026Our room had no A/C. The fan in bathroom did not work. After three days, I asked manager to have our trash removed and clean towels. I was told the “guests need to throw their own trash”. Our room windows, had to stay open to cool down room. Windows looked out on the alleyway where dumpster was. We listened to the lid banging all night long! Parking on the street was a constant struggle. No restaurants/coffee shops within 4 blocks. Definitely not worth the price!

7 Jul 2026What a beautiful property! We stayed 10 nights in June 2026 in a studio. The whole time we were there we just kept saying how we lucked out finding this wonderful place to stay.
Highlights:
The room was beautiful with a king bed, full bathroom with sink/tub and a separate sink area outside of the bathroom, dining table, and full kitchen with plates, pans, etc.
Check-in was smooth and we were able to access our room a few hours early, which was much appreciated after arriving on an early morning flight.
The beach was easy to walk to, although be aware that reaching the beach requires taking a walking path that crosses a highway, so there are some inclines, stairs, etc.
Laundry on property and management thoughtfully has rolls of quarters available in exchange for cash. Laundry facilities were clean and in good working order.
Internet was great.
The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with bright flower beds. water features, a cute library area, etc.
Very small negatives:
The elevator is old and slow, but we appreciated that one existed at all as we were on the 5th floor so we used it for suitcases. laundry, etc.
This property is a previous hotel that was turned into an apartment complex and is now becoming a hotel again. There was no mid-stay cleaning service, which was fine, but I would have appreciated the ability to exchange towels for clean ones instead of washing them myself. Very small inconvenience in an overall great stay.
