Kiwi Express Hotel MRT Wen Xin
The hotel is a bit outdated, but it is clean. The bath tub is raised about 6" above the floor, so it makes a little challenge to get in and out. The breakfast is self serve, very typical Taiwanese style. Check in and check out is fast. The self-serve laundry is great.

Friendly staff that makes you feel welcome.
The staff are friendly and up to date about with information about the local place to go and how to get there. It was not the usual "take a cab" approach but with alternative like walking and buses. 8 bus stop from the hotel to Feng Jia night Market.

Quiet and big clean rooms
The hotel is nice and clean. Only is location is not the best. As not many eating place close by. The aircon in the room is not very strong and cold enough.
The staff is nice and very helpful. They try their best to assist in lowering the aircon temperature as it’s central control by them. Maybe an issue when it’s summer time. But overall it’s ok.

Nice.
The hotel is nice. Breakfast is good. Only that there is not much around. Overall was very nice and the staff was very nice as well when I told them that the A/C was not cold enough and they make an effort to help. Great hotel. Service staff is very friendly.

Very satisfied for my first stay here
Convenient location on Wenxin Road, a few steps from a future metro station (due to open in 2020), fast check-in, free parking (the hotel parking was full but parking at a smart parking nearby was offered), friendly staff. This Kiwi hotel has retained much of the "new Chinese style" decor of the previous owner (it was called Shang Hao Hotel), both in the lobby and in the rooms, and for me it's a welcome change (back) from the industrial/hipster boutique hotels omnipresent nowadays. Spacious and comfortable room with city view. Good modern bathroom with great shower facilities and tub. The buffet breakfast is far from the best in town, and not as good as at the other Kiwi hotels, but it's OK for kicking off the day. A few steps away, JunMei bakery is very famous. Near the big intersection of Wenxin and Henan roads, Chien-Yen Hotpot (千葉火鍋) is an good and inexpensive all the can eat restaurant open non-stop until 11PM.

family stay @Grang Hotel
away from the city & Feng Chia market, but hotel provide one transport. Walking back took us about 30mins with family. However, is situated beside the famous pineapple and butter cookie.
Room size is good for family which was the reason we choose this hotel.
Currently, there is construction of a single line MRT in front of hotel (not sure the usefulness).
Ability to converse or read in Mandarin will be an added advantage. Concierge is helpful and accommodating.
Advise for non-speaking Mandarin to firstly obtain an English map when arrived at the airport or at City.
Overall, still a pleasant stay at this hotel. Will be good if two-transport can be provided by hotel.

Good Hotel but not walking distance to all areas.
1st time in Taiwan with my family. The hotel that we booked is good but not within walking distance to all areas such as the Fengshia Night Market, convinience stores. etc. Need to take a cab whenever you go out. The cost of each trip is estimated between tw$120 - $180 within the 10 Minutes drive.
There is only a complementary 1 way trip provided by the hotel to Fengshia Night Market. There should provide addittional trip such as the Taichung Main Bus Station, etc for the convinience of all foreign visitors.
The front desk is very helpful. However, there are still further improvement especially on Taichung surrounding areas & places of interest on visitors query.
Breakfast provided is OK but with limited choice especially for kids.
Overall, recommended to stay in Grand Hotel.
