8/10 Very good

Really enjoyed our stay. Only negative was that the dinner menu was the same each night. The staff were very friendly and polite. A very dog friendly hotel too - you had the option to have meals in a nice room with your dog - this isn’t the case in some dog friendly hotels. Would stay again.

6/10 Good

Few niggly issues down to either inexperienced staff or simple mistakes. However, this is still a super hotel in a great location. Food excellent.

8/10 Very good

Breakfast was good although be prepared to wait a while. The evening meal was disappointing. We ate at the hotel on two evening occasions and on the first night were unable to eat the burgers which were overcooked and tasted awful. Whilst we were given a plate of complimentary mini desserts (which I think were left over from afternoon tea) we did still have to pay for the two bad meals which were not eaten.

6/10 Good

Location is not good, you have to walk up or down the car lanes about 300 yards to get into town, or the park. Much wiser to stay at the lion inn which is safe, has better variety of food and no stodgy staff. We left the fell and are now in a 2 bedroom suite at the red lion for under the fell.

2/10 Poor

People can’t afford to lose £205

Didn’t end up going due to my wife being poorly I tried to move dates again but was told I couldn’t and would not get a refund I tried explaining this 4 days before the trip but ended up losing the £205 I paid

4/10 Fair

Based my booking on the content of the Devonshire Fell website including impressive photographs of the rooms. On arrival we climbed 2 flights of stairs to our room on the second floor To our dismay the room was very small, dingy,a stain on the duvet and claustrophobic and a million miles from the images portrayed on the website. A complete “rip off” in terms of the overpriced rates they are charging. My wife and I booked out and requested a refund We were told to contact Expedia for the refund. We were celebrating a special occasion. Extremely disappointing A notice on the one small window instructed us not to leave it open as midges will invade. Contacting Expedia to resolve.
