Great Stay for a Business Trip!
The staff was very friendly, made the extra effort, & fantastic! I was greeted every day with a genuine, warm welcome. The location is across the street from a 24-hour Safeway grocery store which has a normal-hours-of-operation Starbucks inside. The Mt. Vernon Metro is about a 2-3 block walk, & the Chinatown/Gallery Place Metro is also walking distance (slightly further away than the Mt. Vernon Metro). The hotel is right next to a police station which made me feel safe, but I heard sirens at all hours. The hotel is also right next to a freeway connection & I heard honking horns during rush-hours. The room was clean & the king-size bed was very comfortable. My room had a 2-burner stove oven, a microwave, a toaster, a basic coffee maker, a refrigerator with a freezer, decent pantry space with a few plates, cups, utensils, left-over storage containers, & basics for making your own meal. There was a fold-out couch with a twin size bed, a dining table with two chairs, a tv in the couch room & a tv in the bedroom. The internet access was complimentary with my room. The bathroom had a standing shower (no tub) & the water pressure was decent. The bathroom sink counter was large. The closet was large enough to hang all of my work clothes for the week, had an ironing board inside, & a safe that was easy to use. Sprint cell phone coverage was sporadic. The free happy hour Mon.-Thurs. was thoroughly enjoyed as was breakfast. Parking is expensive, but cheaper at the Safeway. Great stay!

Taking the good with the bad
My trip was wonderful! The hotel was convenient to our venue as well as to the Safeway and CVS right there! The rooms were clean and the staff was extremely friendly! Tanisha at the front desk was absolutely amazing! She welcomed my family, showed interest in my daughter's tournament and her well-being as well as ours. She worked with me to find rooms that were most accommodating to us and she stopped to converse with us each day. I felt like I was with family and not just in a hotel. Having a hot breakfast each morning was definitely a plus, but I was a little disappointed in the lack of variety. I also found the silverware specifically to be disgusting! I felt like I had to search for clean silverware to use and no plastic was in sight. I also felt the price of parking was extravagant! $53/night is insane! Also, it was a pain to get our vehicle when we needed it or needed something from it due to its location. The valets were nice, but I'm sure they were tired of us running back and forth. Finally, one of the reasons I chose this hotel vs. others around it was because a previous reviewer noted that it was a "safe 5 minute walk to the convention center." While returning to the hotel Saturday night my husband, son, & granddaughter were nearly run over while waiting on the sidewalk to cross the street. With a police station right there, I never expected that to happen. If returning is based on treatment by the staff, I will always choose this Homewood Suites!

Very disappointing stay in DC-better choices near
We left the first morning by 7:30. Came back at 5:30 and the room not cleaned. Asked hotel employee next door if our room was next - she said she was the housekeeping supervisor and she didn't know but she said she would make sure it was done asap. We came back at 7 - still not done and no one to be found! Complained to front desk- said they would send someone then. Well, then we are trying to shower and get ready for dinner! So someone knocked and I said we couldn't do it now, getting ready for dinner but later? Back from dinner and not cleaned. The next day, when the room was "cleaned" we walked in and with the sun across the desk/coffee table etc, you could see where we had set glasses and not even wiped, glasses not removed/cleaned from bedside so we had to wash. We went to dinner and housekeeping had left a cart two doors down, sideways somewhat blocking hall, the vaccuum plugged in the middle of the hall and bits of trash throughout hallway.(a tripping hazard?) When we returned from dinner - it was still there! So we called front desk again. After all that, all they said is what do you what us to do? Poor service and attention for sure.Very disappointing from a Hilton - Visit this area often as my son lives here. Hilton is usually a staple for travel but not planning on ever staying here again.

What initially began as a dismal check-in, resulted in a positive resolution and satisfaction on all levels. Here's what happened: after a speedy and friendly check-in, we quickly learned, after opening the room door, that it was already occupied. Returning to check-in, apologies were given and a second room was assigned -- not the suite we had paid for and, without a door to the bathroom! At this point, we were feeling distraught as were told that the hotel was at full occupancy. Like a super hero, a gracious and wonderful person name Natavia appeared, the Homewood evening manager. She apologized profusely and asked me to give her a minute to sort out the mishap, while assuring me that everything would be resolved quickly. Within five minutes, Natavia had a suite ready and asked me to meet her personally in our new room. She checked out every inch of the suite and asked me to do the same. We shared a great conversation and I thanked her for her willingness to help. What could have been a disaster turned out to be a lovely three day weekend. Natavia demonstrated the importance of positive customer service and a genuine enjoyment of what she does. Kudos to this marvelous and competent woman who saved the day!

When I first checked in I was assigned to a room that was already occupied. I went back to the lobby and they apologized and gave me another room immediately and even upgraded me. The room was fantastic! Beautifully decorated and huge! He bed was pretty comfy, the shower was really nice, and I loved the huge windows. My only two complaints are that they charge WAY too much for someone who is staying there, to valet park your car every night. Ended up costing me $165 for three nights. JUST for parking. That doesn’t include the $150 hold they also put on your card when you check in. Just seems a bit high. But I guess expected for the area. Also, my room temp. never went past 72. I get cold really easy. But the temps outside were cold too, and it even snowed one of the days. 72 was freezing. My hands and feet were always so cold I couldn’t even type on my computer. Despite me trying to change it in my room, it never did. They must have a master control somewhere which sucks. 72 isn’t enjoyable for everyone. Otherwise my stay was nice. Can’t really comment on their breakfast as I never went down to eat it. There is a grocery store across the street which was really nice, and all the monuments and things are only about a mile away. Within walking distance if you don’t mind the DC traffic patterns and lights. Parking is hard to come by unless you find a garage, and slightly expensive so it’s easier to walk or take public transportations.
