There’s a lot to be said about this experience. The daily breakfast was very good, and the room was very clean.
Overall, the staff (cook, cleaner) were very friendly and kind. At night you’re locked in by a gate and it’s not opened until late in the morning. So, if you’re planning on coming and going, you have to let them know. I am an early riser and explorer so this was very inconvient (especially since it can be hard to find someone to help you.)
As far as the grounds go, I was never provided with a property map or told about how, when, or where to use the services offered. There’s no spa info in the room, no info about yoga, no map of the grounds, trails, etc. It was all a little confusing. When I did poke around to see what something was (the welcome card in the room alluded to an outdoor shower, so I was looking for it) I was snapped at by the owner, who was not as kind/pleasant/understanding as you’d imagine someone running this style establishment to be.
Also, for a nature based accommodation, I was really taken back by the traffic noise from the road! Often times I was woken by it in the middle of the night! It was very distracting when trying to relax or practice yoga. I didn’t get much sleep all week.
Again, the food was great and geographically it’s in a really dynamic spot.
I am an active yogi, traveler, and vegan of 2 decades, so, none of this experience was new.
