Very quaint room in a historic hotel. The building is well preserved, and the staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was nothing special, but adequate. If you’re looking for a downtown hotel and want to revisit some history of the town, this is a pretty good choice.

We had a great stay. I spoke to the GM and told her they stay was great. David, front desk clerk, was knowledgeable and friendly. He gave us history about the grandfather clock in the lobby. Maddie and Jill, server's in the restaurant were very friendly. We ate breakfast each morning and dinner 2 times. Thank you for great service.

First off, Dave at reception was awesome!! He was very welcoming and personable. Dave answered all my questions and offered advice when I told him what my plans were. I wish every hotel had Dave up front. I love the feeling of older hotels. So much character. The room was comfortable and clean. I will definitely be back.

Never been to Wellsboro but found it to be a wonderful town - and this hotel is right in the middle of it. If you like Old School this is it; the hotel has a history. Rooms are small - and well-maintained - but old. It was built when people were shorter (we aren't tall - 5-8 and 5-2) but had to reach down for the sink. At first glance, the shower looked like it might not be all that great but pressure was excellent; one of the better hotel showers we've had and we travel quite a bit. Speaking of which, the front desk clerk - Dave - may be the friendliest most well-informed desk clerk ever. Gave us great information on the area and restaurant recommendations. It was only a one-night stay to see the Grand Canyon of PA but we plan to return!

Charming throwback with no downside even in a historic monument. Friendly staff, cozy room, full breakfast at the companion lodge. Perfect rest before a long bike ride through the nearby Pine Creek gorge.

We were a little worried at first, the place is smaller than it looks it pictures. The hallways are a bit narrow however when we got to our room it was roomy and neat. We soon fell in love with the charm of the hotel, the nostalgia. Our bathroom had a tile with a slot to discard used razor blades. All the doors and moldings are original and kept well. The staff was pleasant and attentive when needed. If you want a more modern feel 200 ft down the block is the Penn-wells Lodge which amenities can be used if desired from either place. The Mary Wells Restaurant was the best we found in town, it was fine dining which was impossible to find anywhere within 25 miles of town. It was fine dining also without the price tag, our meals were reasonable. The hotel also has music softly playing from a bygone era which adds to the feeling of going back in time.

This was such a great place to stay for our visit to the PA Grand Canyon. The hotel was very cool, the staff super friendly, nice breakfast included in the am. Wonderful dinner in the tavern inside. Parking right out back and everything in town you could walk to. I would return here in a heartbeat next time I come to Wellsboro!
