Fantastic Location and Staff
The Roomzzz Manchester hotel is located inside the old Corn Exchange. Following the tradition of the other Roomzzz Hotels, this aparthotel comes with a kitchenette and is thus suitable for long term stay. The hotel does not have a restaurant, which is not really needed as the Corn Exchange has an array of restaurants and bars offering a variety of local and foreign delicacies. What I liked about this hotel was the fact that it was located next to Manchester Exchange Square tram stop and Victoria train station. I also appreciate the fact that the gym is open 24 hours and there are washing machines and driers available for free use; only detergent is needed. Reception was very friendly and so was the hotel manager, Liz. However, I would especially like to thank Mr. Mark King (the assistant manager) for his help. I had some issues with the room and I had some questions about Manchester and he did an outstanding job helping and assisting me. For example, the weekly fire alarm test went off at 8am when I was still asleep. I find it very commendable of him that he made sure that the alarm will be tested at a more civilised time. I would also like to thank Gaby for making sure that I enjoyed my room. I could tell that although she had only just started with the job, she was very passionate about it. Considering the location and the staff, this might turn out to be my hotel in Manchester in the future. Thank you for making my stay very pleasant.

A lovely hotel; bring your own breakfast.
The room was fantastic. Very clean and more spacious than most hotel rooms. It was a small apartment style room and had cooking facilities in the room space. This also included a small sink and fridge. Plates and cutlery were also provided in the room. The en-suite bathroom was very well appointed and the shower was excellent. It was also nice to have complementary towels that were actually of a usable size. So much better than most hotel towels. A free breakfast was included in the stay and this was the only negative. There were warm Pain au Chocolat and other pastries, plus fruit, fresh juice and tea/coffee. This was provided in the reception area but there was no where to eat this. With it being an apartment style room you were expected to go back to your room to eat. Given the large size of the hotel it was not that great carrying paper bags with food plus warm and cold drinks all of this way. This was the only negative in what was a very good and well appointed hotel. Given that this is an apartment style hotel I would advice you to bring some food with you and store it in the room. There is a small fridge provided so fresh food can be stored. There are hot plates and a microwave to heat food up and a kettle for hot drinks. As plates and cutlery are provided in the room you would be better off staying in the room and preparing your own breakfast rather than go all the way to reception to struggle and carry it all of the way back.

Almost but no cigar
I really want to give this hotel a 5 star rating, but I can't. It has so many things going for it. The location is unbeatable. It is less than two blocks from Manchester Victoria Station. It is located in the historic Corn Exchange building, but the room was quite modern. The room was very large with full kitchen facilities. It is close to several attractions, and the free shuttle bus (route 2) is at the railway station, along with the light rail transit system. There is great dining immediately available. Unfortunately I have multiple gripes. Management seems to nickle and dime guests. They do not accept AMEX cards. This is the only mainstream hotel I have ever stayed in that does not accept AMEX. I arrived before the nominal check-in time and figured I would check my luggage till I finished my schedule in Manchester that evening. There was a room available, but they charge ten pounds to check in early. Apparently they also charge the same fee to check out late. I have been traveling to the UK for years, and I have never encountered this before. The real deal killer for me was the bed. The mattress was so soft that it utterly destroyed my back. I have encountered such horrible mattresses in hospital call rooms where administration puts their worst worn out mattresses, but never in a decent hotel. This hotel is so close to being excellent, but yet so far. It simply does not make the grade.. Management needs to get their act together.

Everything we needed under one roof.
The location of the hotel was perfect for us, and such a beautiful old building, with so many original 'period' features both inside and out. Checking in was a breeze, and the staff were extremely friendly. My wife was using crutches after having an accident a few weeks previous, and on realising this, the receptionist said if there was any sign of a stair, or problem with access on our way to our room she would move us immediately to a more suitable location. As it was, of ur apartment was perfectly located, and we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of cleanliness and amenities it and the hotel in general had to offer. The weather wasn't at all good to us for our stay, but that wasn't a problem, as there were plenty of great places to eat and drink within the corn exchange, so we didn't even have to leave the building to have a great night. The price of our apartment was so reasonable, definitely great value for money, we even had a surprise complimentary grab and go breakfast that we really enjoyed. We will definitely stay at the Corn Exchange Roomzzz next time we visit Manchester, and will recommend it to all our friends and family without a doubt.

Comfy & convenient for long term business trips
I have started staying here fairly regularly over the past weeks due to it's great location and facilities. The rooms have pretty much everything you need in them, and they layout and quality of each is to high standard. Although, it should be noted that there has always been a (non-major) issue with my room each time, including: not all shower amenties being present, missing utensils, unstable network, fridge too cold and over-freezing, in-room phone not working and, once, a strange smell. But most of these have swiftly been fixed with a quick call to reception. It seems that the hotel is potentially short staffed at specific times, but the staff are both very nice and helpful. A great perk which isn't always offered at other similar type venues is that your dishes are loaded into the dishwasher by the staff, which is a big help for when I return back to the room each day. They do also offer a free 'grab and go' breakfast which is simple but can be helpful when you are in a rush. The building itself is quite large so it can be quite a walk (with stairs) to your room if you end up on the other side of the hotel. Although not too much of an issue for me specifically, it is worth confirming with the hotel beforehand if this is a problem for you. Overall I do enjoy my stay at the hotel and rate it highly amongst similar hotels in the area.
