Too noisy
I was unlucky enough to have a room overlooking the Main Street and it was very noisy at night. Windows were not double glazed and it was quite difficult to get to sleep. Quality of mattress also very mediocre.

Recommended.
A great bed for the night in the middle of Oxford, reasonably priced, very polite and professional staff. Couldn't ask for more.

Unsatisfactory
Our room was cold during our overnight stay. The bathroom was cramped and cold. There is no elevator, so we had to carry our luggage up three flights of stairs. We won't be returning to this hotel.

Check-in process was slow and somewhat haphazard. Once the front desk person finally showed up — after an intercom call and a wait — everything worked out fine. The room was ok, but the bathroom smelled like cat urine. A more thorough room cleaning would be nice. The heating system was difficult to navigate. Check out was fine. The location is outstanding.

The location of this hotel is central to everything in Oxford. It was very close to the bus stop where the coaches from the airport drop off and pick up passengers. It’s convenient to all the shops, museums, coffee shops and restaurants one could want. Across the street from the hotel is a nice brunch spot that will provide hotel guests a small discount. The hotel staff is kind and helpful. My room was very clean and large enough for a lot of luggage. The bathroom was smaller (only one person at a time can fit) but the shower has a powerful output. The room offered free cans of water and tea (with biscuits and milk and sugar). Because you are right above the streets, there can be occasional singing and traffic noise at night. I did not have safety concerns like a reviewer wrote about, which almost made me dread my stay. It’s in a very busy part of town, adjacent to a popular theater that draws a lot of people to its shows so maybe that person was unaccustomed to the hustle. The hotel key card allows only guests inside. The hotel is on the second floor and there isn’t a lift but staff will help. Overall I had a lovely stay in a comfy and clean room helped by some very nice people. I recommend!

Great location . But we were not informed about the fact that you have to climb a set of stairs to the first floor in order to check in and then another set of stairs to the second floor rooms. I am retired and had heavy luggage there is no elevator.

Room smelt terribly almost like animal urine and got a member of staff to check and verify. Very noisy and requires double glazing. I would rate this hotel as 2 star

There are many flights of stairs up to the check in desk with no option of an elevator, so you needed to drag your luggage up and down yourself. Then another flight of steps to your room. I was a little terrified of what would happen if there was an emergency as far as getting out of there. Staff was delightful.

Central Oxford, great value
The ebtrance, stairs, and reception area look a but tired but the room exceeded expectations. Quiet, very clean, and comfortable bed. Shower a little cramped, but plenty of hot water and nice and clean. Brilliant situation in centre of Oxford, close to station, and I would say excellent value for money. Staff really nice. Definitely would stay again.

Good value for sure. Great location in the center of Oxford with shopping, eating & colleges all around you. The staff were all great, so very friendly & helpful. The hotel is probably 2.5 star by US standards. Bed & bedding were very comfortable, towels were fluffy & the heated towel bar was great! No elevator & the lobby is up a floor so be aware! The staff will help with bags. Rooms facing street are noisy at night kids coming home from the bars late!! Despite that due to the location & value I would stay here again

Hi the location was good but noisy . The hotel is clean but not deluxe as is stated . There are no breakfast facilities. Which again is not stated .
The bathroom was tiny . It did have a fridge with water so that was good . The air con was very noisy and there was a lot of street noise .

Hotel really old but nice location, close to Gloucester Square bus station Heathrow buses. Lobby is on second floor with a long narrow staircase to climb and no elevator. Difficult to haul luggage. Front door locked maybe because of security reason so waited for a while to be let in. Single person in reception, not too friendly, who may not be present all the time. Rooms are old and small. Booked a triple room but was given a double but an extra folding bed was provided occupying the entire remaining free floor space in the room. Room so tight that wardrobe doors could not fully open. Clean bedding and linens but the cleanliness of the rest of the room can be improved. But the price of the room not high and the only reason to stay there is the central location and the close walk from the property to the bus or train station.
