A good place to stay on the beach
My usual go to place to stay while vacationing. It is an older hotel past its glory days compared to most timeshare resorts. (This one is not part of any timeshare company.) That is what gives it its charm. It is located in the romantic zone close to a lot of shopping and popular restaurants and bars, all within walking distance. The staff are friendly and helpful always.

Tropicana. PV
The staff were generally very good except for those at check-in. One woman was particularly rude. The hotel kept very clean. The single chair in my room was so uncomfortable. I had to use bed pillows trying to make it usable. It took days for them to fix a leaky pipe under the bathroom sink.
The view from my room was wonderful.

Meh
Nice location if you like the zona-romantica vibe. Walking distance to all of offerings there. A bit more authentic than other areas I've visited (e.g. Cabo, Cancun, Puerto Penasco). Their services are all cash. Know your peso conversion, their staff will overcharge. The pool has very little seating available and will leave you wanting. Step onto the beach and you'll be subjected relentless vendor solicitation every 30 seconds. Absolutely not an exaggeration. There are refrigerators nor ice machines. Ice is only available at the bar. You bring a plastic beer pitcher to collect . But.., don't ask for ice more than once with the same bartender, you'll get scolded and refused. We stayed on the top floor... beautiful view. However, the elevators are so slow you'll reconsider leaving your room. Maid service is good if you can get it before 5pm. You need it, the birds will cover your balcony in droppings, suggest bringing some paper towels. Wall unit AC works... bonus. Beds are hard. TV is low end. Really no amenities other than two free bottles of water at check-in. In summary, the location and view from the 9th floor is as advertised. Everything else is suspect. Most folks we met during the 5 night trip prefer the Marina area. After this stay, so do I,

6 nights in Paradise
Hotel is older but well maintained. It still retains some Mexican charm that many of the places have lost. Staff is attentive and pleasant. Junior suite has lots of room and having the kitchenette was nice with fridge and coffeemaker. Really enjoyed the balcony with great pool and ocean views. The sunsets were amazing. Very convenient location

Nice beach front hotel
Tropicana isn’t fancy but it’s good value for the money and in a great location.

Great Location, basic hotel
The tropicana is located right on the beach, so the location is great. Some rooms are better than others, but most have a water view. The check in is always tedious, you have to pay a resort fee that is somehow unexplained, and if you one of your party is not there at check out, they will try to charge 300 pesos for not returning it. Just make sure that everyone goes to the front desk at the same time, or their process can't handle it.

Need renovations
We’ve been staying here for 25 years. Unfortunately, in that time they have not done room renovations. The toilet didn’t flush properly, the water went down slow on the shower (to the point where I turned the water off for a bit before it overflowed. Check in is usually a slow process. Other than that I can’t complain about anything else. Beds are comfortable.

Don’t get fooled by the nice photos
Don’t get fooled by the beautiful pictures. They only two good aspects of this hotel is the location and the view. The place is composed of three tower buildings and several extensions put together with absolutely no planning and there is no coherence in the overall design. In fact, the whole place needs serious renovations. The very small parlor area, under one of the towers looks like a dumpster of old furniture and left-over building materials. The tower and the room we were in still looks and smells like 30 years ago. Our had a bad smell coming from the bathroom, particularly at night, and my mattress smelt of vinegar. We had really bad huevos rancheros at their restaurant which we definitely not recommended. The staff was nice and courteous enough. In short: we won’t return.

Great Location, basic hotel
The location for the Tropicana is great, steps to some great restaurants and beach clubs. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but the staff is friendly enough. The beds were comfortable, and hot water was never an issue. One thing that does not work is wifi. If you require it on your stay, this is not the place to book. The "resort and/or cleaing fee" charged at check in is also a bit of an overcharge. Just include it in the price, or don't expect a tip at the end of the stay. I'm not sure what this fee is supposed to be for, no one could actually give a consistent explanation for it. It was either a tax, a cleaning fee, or resort user fee.

Staycation Approved
The hotel was very comfortable for our Halloween staycation. The room was big and clean with clean and serviceable linens. We had a nice ocean view with a balcony to sit and listen to the waves. The common areas were well maintained and presentable for the most part but the pool that was opened definitely needed some TLC which seems to be planned with one pool closed for renovations. There were excessive missing tiles and the pool seemed to get very murky as the day went on. Hoping to stay again next year to see the upgrades.

Decent hotel on the beach
An ok hotel with nice pool and beach. Happy hour 6 to 8pm. We like the pet turtles in the fountain. Everyone friendly except Gali behind the bar in the morning who made it an ordeal to get ice for my beer, and kept demanding propina - not cool. We think the other bartenders straightened him out. Pool restaurant bar reasonably priced. No ice machine, no fridge in the room. All sorts of great bars and restaurants within easy walking distance close to hotel - no need for rental car or taxi. Overall not bad for older less upscale cheaper hotel.

Still a great deal
The lower pool is being completely re-done, which is a good thing, but there was considerable noise and dust that interfered with a relaxing time by the pool. Otherwise, it was a great stay again. Kudos to the staff: housekeeping, pool attendants (♥️ the towel lady), restaurant servers, bartender were all friendly and welcoming. Thanks 🙏 for a nice stay.
