Highlights of Liverpool Central Library

One of the most astounding parts of the Liverpool Central Library, the Picton Reading Room was added to the library in 1879. This room features stunning bookshelves and an unforgettable domed ceiling. The Hornby Library, located just alongside the Picton Reading Room, is named after a former merchant, Hugh Hornby, and contains a collection of his late books, etchings and letters to the library.

Make sure to pop into the Oak Room, too, which was constructed in 1914. Its name refers to the lovely wood used for its floor and fixtures throughout the room. Specifically, this room features 'Birds of America' by ornithologist John James Audobon, which contains remarkable, rare watercolours.
