Great location and easy access to subway stations
I'm so glad I booked with Congress Plaza. Every time I come to Chicago I always pass this hotel. So I figured I'd give it a try.
Check into the hotel was super efficient and easy. Front desk was very accommodating at anytime that I had a question or concern.
The room that I had was very big. Tall ceilings, clean linens. The building itself is older but it is well maintained and renovated.
Upon checking out, I was unable to get my room safe unlocked. So I called front desk to get it unlocked. Within a couple of minutes, security was able to help and assist. I will definitely book again at the Congress because of easy walking access to the train station and right in the heart of Chicago Loop.

It's definitely clear the property is older, but it still has charm. Heat was turned up too high and was difficult to turn off, but the staff was very helpful. Overall, the stay was good.

The first night my room was freezing cold. The heat was blowing cold air and I have stayed here before no problems before. Called they gave us a space heater. The next day we just sitting and talking the power goes out in our room because of the space heater I guess and we had to wait 30 minutes before the light came back on. The longer we waited the colder the room hot and it got cold fast. The maintenance man said our window was broken and it wasn’t safe for us to stay in the room anymore and the space heater wasn’t safe either. Eventually they gave us a better room after the whole ordeal but I feel like it could’ve easily been avoided instead just offering us a space heater.

10 outta 10 no notes
My partner and I decided on a last minute weekend trip, and I'm so pleased with our decision to stay at the Congress Plaza. The hotel itself was absolutely beautiful- but the team was so kind and accomodating. We ate in the lounge and requested a late check out. We will definitely be back!

Congress Plaza Hotel is a dump.
This place is a dump. The bathtub was rusty, uncomfortable beds and pillows. The staff is lazy, the bar tender didn’t even want to leave the bar to attend the rest of the lounge people eating. This place isn’t cheap and what its charge and how the place actually looks are two different things. Will never stay there again and the city of Chicago should close it down.

Worth it for the money
Older hotel, but with modern amenities. We came for a quick overnight visit and chose it for price and location. Parking is a short walk away from the main hotel entrance. The history is evident in the hotel. Our room was so hot we had to open the window to cool off. The toilet was running, but a quick jiggle of the handle fixed it. Our chief complaint was that hallway noise and smell came into the room quickly. For a hotel with no smoking, it sure smelled a lot like weed at times.

No thanks.
We checked in and checked back out within about 10 minutes. Parking was sketchy and the hotel, while lovely in the lobby, felt a little like the Shining when we got up to the rooms. Hotel not kept up nicely over the years. Husband got stuck in the bathroom when the door wedged him in.
