Was hoping for a relaxing getaway, found out that most of the hotel and all of the amenities (not many to start with but a restaurant and a bar) were off-limits to anyone else besides the wedding party. It would be nice to know that ahead of time so we could rearrange our travel plans. Super tiny room, even smaller bathroom. Uncomfortable squeaky bed, cheap pillows. Very unfriendly front desk. Will not be coming back.

Beautiful grand hotel and I recommend it for that reason, but it's not a place you go tp for luxury amenities. It's off-season so the restaurant is closed and they're short-staffed, like everyone these days. You could order food from the bar but the salad I had was inedible. I had a charming room overlooking the lakefront, but amenities are very bare-bones. Even having a coffeemaker in the room or a larger tv would make a difference. It's such a beautiful grand old hotel--just a few little upgrades would make it perfect! I recommend going at least once, but not sure I would go again.

This is a beautiful and historic hotel. The views of the lake from the front porch are spectacular. Fall is a very nice time to visit. It was incredibly quiet and peaceful. Walking around the grounds was so pleasant. We did not want to leave! Although the staff was a bit shorthanded (like almost every other business) they did a great job of making our stay a pleasant one. You can't expect all the modern amenities that you get at other hotels, but we were not expecting that from this iconic and historic facility. We look forward to coming back.

Absolutely stunning, grandiose historical hotel. Just breathtaking, from the 1800s. Right on lake Chautauqua. Gorgeous views. We stayed in annex which was nice as well. The whole Chautauqua Institute campus was amazing. Historical, shops, restaurants, park, little Beach etc. Very walkable. Wonderful, will be back.

Stayed last year and came back again. We like the old atmosphere with its ballroom, veranda and various exterior enclosures. rooms are limited in size, but mattres was in good shape. We just parked on the street or in the circular drive, but those who park in the manner prescribed by the hotl have a 15 minute uphill walk. Not pleasant in the dark and with rain.

The hotel is extremely old, so you have to consider that for what it is. In that regard it is a grand relic to be appreciated for it's age and architecture. It is a beautiful building!
